Well I for one am proud with the lads efforts tonight , 4-0 isn't that bad against the league leaders. We had some good chances to create chances today and we didn't loose our cool and get any players sent off. Onto the next project, I think playing Nichols upfront on his own tonight could of grabbed a few goals as they wouldn't expect it. Must admit I thought we'd get done by at least 6 tonight so I suppose we had a bit of a result second half

The last sentence gave me a good laugh though.

Montano just scored for Port Vale! Would you have him back? Yeah was a direct wide player. Just what we're lacking We'd definitely of kept a clean sheet if he'd been in the starting 11.

So Hurst is doing even better at present than DC, how does that prove your argument DC that would get us promoted with a bigger budget, perhaps he'd just waste it on more players like Nichols? Grimsby Town had a reasonable conference budget. P.H. spent it all on his first 11...with a loan or two and a few weaker players. They did well for several seasons eventually gaining promotion. P.H. when interviewed on TV talked about his limited size squad and how Rovers had a big strong squad for the league. P.H. is a good manager..one I had hoped would be a candidate for the Rovers job if D.C. left.
P.H. most likely is doing the same at Shrewsbury. Strong 11 with little depth.
D.C. works on a strong big squad...hence why Rovers do better as the season goes on. Suspensions ,injury and form weaken the other teams who do not have the competition in the squad.
At league one D.C. does not have the strong big squad he likes and needs. Constant tactical and personnel changes through the season is his game. As you climb the leagues it costs more money to have a big strong squad. Could Rovers actually provide D.C. with the sort of money needed for his tactics to work ? I suspect the club needs to nearly double the budget for D.C. to have the same success as he had at the lower levels.
We don't need the same success in the short term we just need to be around the top 10, to go to teams like Pompey and Shrewsbury and attack them is sheer madness, look at Oxford on Saturday, they sucked the life out of the game then went for the win in the 2nd half.

Part of me admires DCs philosophy of trying to win every game, however, why are we playing 3 strikers, 2 ball playing midfielders and a central midfielder which lacks pace, all in the same team away from home to 2nd in the league! Left scratching my head somewhat. No wonder we conceded goals.

Perhaps the manager needs to adjust "his tactics" to the players he has available - which is exactly what's Paul Hirst has done. You could be right. I don't think he is that kind of manager though.

I don't get all the mimicking of DC's mannerisms when we lose. sh** defending once again irrespective of formation, players need to take responsibility. Quite right DC will apologise on behalf of the team & take some of the blame. I'd let DC relegate us mate, I believe he's earned even that. He interviews the same as any other manager when we lose though (with the exception of some outstanding efforts from city's past). I just find them so pointless.

Fans will have to be ok with totally random results then. D.C. doesn't go for draws.

The thing is, that our away record was great in League 2 and DC often set us up to keep it tight in the first half before opening up towards the end. The gung-ho style has only really come about in the last few months.
