For those people knocking progress and carping on about silence on progress this clip just about sums it all up for me.
Along with Mr Dunford I was one of the few who kept the dream alive by going to Bath City to watch the Gas. Progress has been made and I think the end is nearly in sight. I look at the younger fans of today and think without the few at the Bath City days they wouldn't have the chance to be a Gashead it would be page of history now. Keep the faith the hardest part has passed Moaners need to look at this and have a rethink IMO
Dunfords RIP thank you for keeping my dream alive.

Went through that. Awful times. Perhaps that's why I read "why aren't we spending, we've been let down by our owners, why don't we have a bigger budget" with utter contempt.

"One of the few", we were not that badly supported.
I never understood the big deal about having to travel to bath, from yate its quicker than getting to muller rd. Poor show to those who couldn't be bothered.

Just as 'The Gas' started as a mickey-take, and we adopted the tag; I'm proud of the moniker 'Rag Bag Rovers'. Whatever has been thrown at us, we've pulled through. Like bluegas I enjoyed our time at Bath. Whatever is going on off-pitch, what really matters is the team, manager and the fans.

I've actually noticed the younger fans who can't remember/weren't born during the Twerton days are much more level headed than some older fans who seem to be foaming from the mouth when we lose a few.

I could never understand Gerry Francis's or Holloway's mullets when I was 15.... It made no sense to how or why or what they symbolised.... Also the moustache was en-vogue so twentyman, Alexander, martyn, all had one....
The real cool dude in all this is Phil Purnell, who had both....

Our supporters whether old or young have always pretty much followed the team through thick and thin and i personally think the latest crop of youngsters are some of the loyalist i've known. ( i'm no spring chicken myself)

Poor show to those who couldn't be bothered. I agree with this. I lived in Trowbridge at the time. Was an absolute delight for me as it was much easier to get to. I’m no glory supporter but I might have been a bloomin lazy one.

The Twerton days were great days! loved the fact that everyone who followed the Dunfords there was totally committed to the club, nobody moaned ,we all rallied round to the cause , the atmosphere surrounding the club was one of defiance, and all the insults which came our way we adopted as our watchwords eg rag bag rovers etc .i well remember queuing round the ground for Wembley tickets, the replay at Lucky Liverpool, that night in May, how we defied the odds and turned the Littlewoods cup deficit around at Ashton, the great players we discovered there, they were great days and we have Geoff and his Father to thank for that and much more.ITS been said on previous posts that only true blues made the effort hence complete harmony from top to bottom, some how the Mem has never felt quite the same has it,? but lets make it a sell out on the 28 oct and show the family just how much they mean to us and just how thankful we are that they were at the helm during the most difficult time in our history, and to the doubters who are bemoaning our present form , keep calm , things could be an awful lot worse! Honest!

Watching that was an absolute tear-jerker. For hundreds of reasons.

Remember standing at Blackpool in 1990 singing "We're proud of you" to Geoff and Ron Craig as they walked round the ground before the game. Meant it too.
Hope there is some from of permanent reminder such as a Dunford Stand or similar.

Same here i enjoyed Twerton days, i feel it made us stronger and more together, although it was a sad day when we left Eastville i also remember that final season as depressing as it could get, and to be honest it did not feel like home what with the southstand fire also rest of stadium in such a run down state, support was way down the club was dying on it's feet and i think we are in a much better place than the last couple of seasons at Eastville thankfully to the Dunfords and some great transfer dealings at Twerton that bought in some cash to see us through with one of our best managers ever in Gerry francis UTG !

I think I'm right in thinking he backed Ian Holloway with inspired signings like Jason Roberts etc. Didn't we bottle it on a final day match away at Cardiff? So close to promotion to the 2nd tier with our limited resources etc.
The thing about perspective is the new owners have infinitely more money than the Dunfords (so we were told). So I guess expectations have been raised. I would like to see some talisman signings like Jason Roberts or Ricky Lambert again just to get the juices flowing.

I was out of the fold for most of the Twerton years and only saw about a dozen matches there in total. The game that sticks out for me was one that vary rarely gets a mention, and it was a win against the 82! 2-0 up but they got it back to 2-2,a dodgy penalty for them possibly? Then from a corner Billy Ocean gives the thieving Postman an almighty shove in the back and heads in the winner for us.Still makes me laugh now.
