If we are so short of cash the £10k prize money v Swindon means we must try and win it. Also will the club arrange a development side game on the FA second round date? With free entry at least we can get the chance to see the side and the bars might be busy- its better than Xmas shopping!Man, I really like this idea. As it's not a league game, we could be drinking while watching the game. I'm in.

What mental age are you? Of course they are owners as they own a 30% stake! They are not sole owners but have the decision making roles within the bank and in the English language it is still their bank as the own a part of it! So again they can control the decisions as they make them and have the influence. Care to come out from behind the keyboard and call me an idiot to my face? And the term own can mean either something you possess or in figurative of speech something you have use of. I don't own my car (my company does as it's a company asset) but I use my own car (the one owned by the company ) to travel - when people say how are you getting to the game I say I'll use my own car. I don't say I'll use the car owned by company Having read your well thought out analogy I can happily reveal that I'm the owner of 2 of the largest banks in the UK and will be arranging the finance for a new ground first thing Monday morning. The one fact we know about the Al Qs is that they don't own a bank in anyway or form. If one of them happens to be CEO or whatever that will not give him the right to right loans to himself at less than commercial rates. If you believe otherwise you may as well believe he has a money tree growing in his garden. No idea what you're company car has to do with the financing of a new ground or redevelopment. Other than you're embarrassed to admit it's not your car. I can't see your banks lasting very long with maths as good as yours. You found that missing 200k yet?

This £200K house. I've looked on Rightmove and I can't find it anywhere, so Wael is definitely lying about something. It was actually 3 houses. Two in Newport and one in Rochdale.

I have had to delete a few posts today in this thread by posters calling others a range of insultative names. It must stop.
Can we remind you one more time to attack the post not the poster.
Let this be a final warning, if it continues we will take action to stop it. And maybe next time it won't just be the post that is removed.
Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks for your understanding. Completely agree and as someone who wrongly did attack a poster having risen to deliberately antagonistic posts, may I also suggest that we all (myself included) grow up and debate with and not deliberately antagonise each other.

Apart from The North Stand at Eastville that opened in 1959 ( not sure who paid for that but was a very big stand at our home ground ) and the Family Stand at Twerton that Rovers paid for. But hey don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

It's hard to believe most posters on here have never witnessed a proper stand being built by the club.

But whether or not you believe they would have wound Gillingham up your basic assertion is still "buy football clubs for land". That's still idiotic. No I didn't. I just said I didn't know if there was an alternative site for the Gillingham club. I said nothing about buying them to just put houses on them. I stated clearly that you couldn't do anything else at Gillingham to make it a viable risk other than put housing on it assuming there was somewhere to move the club. As I don't know if that is a possibility as I know nowt about Gillingham, or care for that matter, I assume the AQs realised it was a poor prospect and looked at us. They said at the the outset that the Mem was a no goer, but it didn't matter as we were going to the UWE. As the situation is now, they would never have got involved from a football point of view. But we would still be a good bet to redevelop the site for housing. That's what worries me, and if our debts keep mounting as they are, there is only one way for them to get their money back. And don't think it doesn't happen. Remember Brighton? It was reported at the time, not least on here, that it was the Gillingham owner who turned them down not that the al-Qadis walked away. Also, Hamer stated that had we stayed in non league, they wouldn't be looking at us. That is despite the UWE still being available. It seems to me that the UWE was a bonus rather than the reason. I also recall Wael being quite specific in his words, that is we need a "new stadium". That said, you are obviously concerned by what you have learned. Have you been able to get your information confirmed by other unrelated sources and are you sure as to their motives?

Does anyone now believe we will have.
1] A new or redeveloped ground fit for the championship? 2] A good quality training facility of championship standard? 3] A category 2 academy. 4] An infrastructure and team capable of competing long term in the championship. All hugely expensive with i would suggest the new ground essential in a relatively short timescale. So does anyone think this all this will happen?

When WAQ first took over I would have said yes; but in recent times he has gone quieter than Higgsie and virtually disappeared, I would now have to say no chance.

A question for Gasincider and his source, why did the ALQ's spend a £1m+ buying the land at Almondsbury if there sole intention was to make a fast buck out of the Mem site? Plus why employee a CE and Academy staff, wouldn't it make more sense to reduce staff numbers. What about the rumoured £500K+ spent on players this summer.
Say their sole intention was to sell the site for housing what are they going to do with Rovers, they'll have to find a ground somewhere, AG is out of the question, Twerton not up to holding league football without a big cash injection and there's nowhere else locally suitable.
Why would Weal and his family want to tarnish their good name just to make £5m/£10m out of making an English football club homeless.
I feel Weal and his family had good intentions when they bought the club, whether they've still got the finance, even motivation, is the big question ex BoD's probably can't answer like the rest of us but there's no need to try and discredit the family, as at least we don't seem to be on the verge of bankruptcy like we were when they were in control of the club.

Some will, some will be take much longer than initially thought. 1) The ground is a big unknown, it will happen if the will is there. 2) Yes. I expect planning permission to go in soon and signed off by February with the other issues sorted out. 3) It was stated that Category 3 would be the initial plan, Category 2 was always going to be longer term. 4 a) infrastructure being added to, such as coaches, development squad and the appointment of the Commercial Director. 4 b) The team needs quality added, I expect 2 in January. After that it depends on where we are with 1-4a.
