It is looking more and more likely that some, if not all our previous board of directors are looking to become directly involved again in our club. It is almost like their names are being drip fed to see what the reaction of our fans will be.
NH was mentioned by a long term fan at Scunthorpe on the weekend, which staggered me. Eddie Ware of course cropped up in conversations on here recently.
Now Chris Jelf has been added to the list, presumably as the acceptable face of the previous board.
Our previous board could not raise the funding to put in place the stadium that we desperately need, but there does seem to be some mileage in the idea that they are looking to work with the rumoured Far East investors that seem to be circling, in order to build the stadium.
Whilst we would all love to see a new stadium, which is what we thought we were getting from our current owners, the potential pitfall with this, looking at other clubs with Far Eastern investors, is how they are faring. Wolves for instance are going well, but others are not.
Of course, with any new owners, the issue of cost to the club has to come to the fore. Rent/leasehold costs (Coventry City comes to mind) etc etc could kill us, but so could the lack of a quality stadium.
Our former directors didnt succeed last time they were here, so I'm not confident that they can this time. There is an alternative group interested in taking us on, so it will be mighty interesting to see what is on offer from both. Whatever the future holds, one thing is for sure in my opinion. That is that the Mem will not be redeveloped, and it looks highly unlikely that the Colony will be redeveloped anytime soon.
The losses are rocketing, so progress on a stadium is absolutely vital to ensure the future of our club.

Good post and for a change I will actually back up most of what is said here as I have heard similar things.
I still maintain my opinion that the UWE deal was not a good deal for the club.
I still also take issue that the current owners do not have the money. I think that they are very careful with money and may play brinkmanship in terms of paying everything only when absolutely necessary but that does not mean there is no money.
I also don't have any faith that any of the previous incumbents are the answer to any potential problems we may or may not have.

There's a question mark in the thread title, does this mean you are going to disown the thread as a pure and simple guess as soon as someone challenges you on it?

If the land for the UWE is effectively free then a lot of the cost of the build of a modest stadium can be offset by self development of the Mem site, FL grants, and stand/stadium sponsorship. It's a gamble but the potential revenues are there in TV and prize money from getting into the Championship. I'm not sure that building the ground is a massive financial problem. It's sustaining the actual football side of the business that's the issue.

Here we go again! Seat belts on... Guess the question is can we beat 32 pages on this subject? Although to be fair (before it’s pointed out to me anyway ) I did contribute to some of that. To save us all going round in ever decreasing circles (what can we say that ain’t been said already?) may I suggest, that unless and until something concrete (excuse the pun) is announced/happens we all agree that something is likely going on, none of us are sure what and we await events, and leave it there? I would suggest no “official” announcement seems imminent so we are all kind of speculating (guessing really). Might save a lot of angst. Probaby won’t happen though.....

A few years ago I never thought I would say this, but the only person I would have back and sadly that is now impossible is Geoff. For all the history good and bad, the arguments and fallings out, he ‘got it’ Not everything was right, of course there were mistakes along the way, and I would say I don’t believe he never did anything he didn’t think was right.
Quite frankly I wouldn’t want NH and any of the other lot anywhere near the boardroom. I think the NH omnishambles (whatever the faults and the rights and wrongs) focuses how much GD actually ‘got it’ and by that I mean the responsibility of the position

Why would anybody want to invest £m's in Bristol Rovers with little or no hope of ever getting their Money back ? Years ago my dad said that he wouldn't want £1m but would like to borrow it. What he meant was that he could live off the £100 per day interest without having to spend a penny of the £1m. The person he borrowed it from would still have their £1m. It is the same with investors, they would want a safe place for some of their money but aren't looking at dipping into the actual amount (at least for a period of time) but wish to have a return. If Dwane said to 20 very rich people or institutions give me £2m and we will get you 5% pa plus protecting your capital then they will be happy.

As long as they can deliver a new stadium and develop the club, i see no problem, if they come in and plan to do nothing then i would say no thanks.

Does this really justify a new thread- separate from the other bollox? Makes me think we need separate sections on this forum now, "on the pitch" and "off the pitch"!

But someone is going to have to stump up the best part of £10m I would guess to send the ALQ's on their merry way and then we're back to square one - happy days!! And The Colony is a separate entity completely.

So let's assume Nick Higgs will play Marty McFly. Who will play Doc Brown? Will Wael get a part?
