At the meal today Steve Hamer said that he felt the AQ's had possibly not fully understood the cost of running a football club in this country. Furthermore, when asked about Billy Bodin, his reply was, the difference in the wage for a good championship player and a good league 1 player was huge.
Make of that that what you will.

As bankers surely they were able to look at the profit and loss and see how much was underpinned by the previous directors? It’s business basics and totally bonkers that they would have to wait to run the club to notice that.
They should also realise that the delaying of building/refurbing a stadium is also halting revenue and income streams.

Some of us have already started Hugo. Interviews like Hamer has given lately as well as comments to fans such as this only confirm what some of us already thought.

Their father set up the bank which would have been a good leg up into the banking world without having to make the hard yards that self made people do. I am unaware of what the owners of the club have achieved on their own merits outside of the family business- if someone wants to put me straight on that then I am genuinely happy to be corrected. As it is I can't help but think that where City got Lansdown (loathsome as he is), rag bag Rovers got the investment banking version of the Chuckle Brothers.

Wael supports Chelsea, how the hell can he not realise how much it's costs to run a club, possibly Hani didn't but you'd think some discussions took place between them before they agreed to buy Rovers. If it's true then why don't they just sell up and let somebody else have a go?
As far as the ALQ's as businessmen, AJIB took over the Middle East HSBC banking unit so they can't be mugs when it comes to banking.

i must admit I really have lost my patience with it all now. The thing that sticks in my throat the most is that for once , I actually believed that we would finally have training facilities and a stadium to be proud of and that we would start operating like all other professional football clubs, I really think the feel good factor is slipping away from the club. We seemed to be a club moving in the right direction but it has stalled and I do worry that we will start to stagnate again. I will always support the gas and get behind the boys but it feels like it's one step forward and two back!

Reading the responses *Gasinciders work here is done! Given he wasn't the only fan at the meal I assume somebody else who attended will call him out if he was wrong, I fear he wasn't though.

Have they been involved in anything together outside of the family business? It is really difficult to reconcile purchasing a club with a stadium deal on the table that was so bad they couldnt get it over the line. A lack of due diligence from the outset is very much a possibility and would speak volumes for their business acumen.

To be honest Hamer is only verbalising what looks pretty obvious to most of us. In fact it probably didn't need a thread about it because it isn't really much of a revelation!

Hamer is full of sh1t he does not have the passion for Bristol Rovers FC , he just goes through the motions spouting what he thinks we want to hear Sorry Mr Hamer but we deserve a lot more respect than what you give us We are not idiots We the fans are the life blood of Bristol Rovers so don't treat us like idiots show us some respect I like Okebourne have had enough , if we ain't got a pot to water in then tell us , stop the delaying tactics give us the true facts

It would be nice to hear from anybody else who attended the meal?
I think hamer has come out of recent interviews with credit,he hasnt been a jobsworth sycophant but has actually highlighted some problems with the owners though less abrasive in style and content than dc.

Various Rose Tinters have claimed we should keep the faith and the new stadium, training ground etc will happen. One even resigned from the forum over 'Constant Negativity'.Currently at Portishead and travelling into Bristol we go past Ashton Gate daily.Even the Rose Tinters must realise now, nothing at all is happening except an open air film show and a second tent is all we have to show under the new regime. 'Be patient' we are urged.Makes me weep at our lack of ambition, lack of progress and constant failure over ground developement.Travelling past Ashton to-morrow ,I will drive blindfolded!!!

Reading the responses *Gasinciders work here is done! That only makes sense if "gasincider" is lying and hamer did not in fact say those things. If hamer did make the stated comments at the meal its a worthwhile piece of information imo.

I was also at the meal today and the Chairperson also confirmed that he had a meeting that day about the plans for the colony and are in the process of finalising them before submission for planning He also stated that the manager has a budget for refreshing the squad in January He also said that looking at other sites for a stadium has not been ruled out I Can also confirm i did not see anybody in the "Corridors of Power" He also said thanks to the sponsor of the meal as well... I wonder who that was Read into that what you want
