Yeah, that's where I'm coming from. Sercs is clearly top quality. Probably the best player we have, but he has gone missing a few times whereas Ellis has really caught the eye all season and seems to have finally started justifying why we persisted with him. Ellis more consistent agreed, Sercombe unplayable on his day but that’s about half the games this season , Ellis is a 7 or 8 every week where as Sercombe can be a 5 one week a 9 the next. That's quite harsh on Sercombe actually, he is far from being our most inconsistent player and there's been a few times when Sercombe has played well but the team hasn't. Can't argue about what has been said about Ellis though, he has been superb this season and deserves all the praise he gets.

I wouldn’t say Gaffney wipping boy but he plays well but doesn’t score enough and his final ball today was poor Strikers are measured on goals and he is falling woefully short for our needs. What about Ellis' one on one miss at the end ? To be honest, from my vantage point, it looked like Ellis wanted to put the cherry on top the cake by making the keeper look silly. I think at 1-1 or 2-1 he would have took the chance earlier

Reality is that we have a set of strikers who will give you sweat and blood for 90 plus minutes but don't score goals. How anyone can value Harrison at a million is on another planet? I agree he has improved with his work ethnic and certainly is a handful for most defences, but he is paid to score goals and goals win games. Yesterday he had two clear chances... One where he had an hour to think about where he was going to put the ball, and ended up hitting the corner flag? Should be forcing the keeping into making a save... And the one on one at the end where he just decided to blast it at the keeper? Could of gone round him or dinked it over the keeper....? There is no lack of effort but we are relying heavy on our midfield to score goals at the moment, and was when Bodin was here. Yesterday was a excellent all round team performance and the goal scorers took there goals well, but we can't afford to put the pressure on our midfield to win us games week in week out.....

Harrison worth over a million?? He put in a great shift yesterday and his work rate should be commended. However the idea that Championship clubs are circling is a bit crazy. He's still a long way off having the quality to play at that level. The gulf between the leagues is vast and as others have stated, his output isn't close to being a top League One striker. Can't help but feel we've got a few supporters who get carried away. I’m gonna do a GGMI and search for this when it happens, he s better than Doidge who is allegedly worth a million.😄 I just don't Harrison has the potential to be a Championship striker. That level is consistently getting better and he's a long way off being good enough. No way is he worth anywhere near a million.

Ellis was bloody brilliant yesterday the Bradford back line just couldn’t Handle him the club needs to sort his contract out and quick,, I think we have all known Ellis has the potential to be a quality striker but over the last few seasons he has been so frustrating & inconsistent, but this season he been a revelation both up front & in his defensive duties. In my opinion he’s gone from being a useful bench player to one of the first names on the teamsheet, let’s hope he keeps up his present workrate & form as at this level he is a real asset.

Decent thread until the last couple of words tbh.
How is Gaffers so far off the mark? Scored one less league goal than Ellis in 621 less minutes.
Appreciate Ellis has done wonderful this season in terms of his all round play, but not sure why you're writing Gaffers off?

Appreciate Ellis has done wonderful this season in terms of his all round play, but not sure why you're writing Gaffers off? look at the Match moments For me Gaffney gets the assist for the Partington Goal. He was being marked by two & it was his pressure that caused the defender to head the ball to Partington. Harrison gets two assists for winning the pen & laying the pass to sercombe for the third. They way we play neither Gaffney or Harrison are getting 25 goals a season. There job is to make space for the attacking Midfielders. This has been really effective against Portsmouth & Badford City. If we win who cares who scores? Well done DC great tactics to undo these sides.

For me the thing that has clicked with Ellis is that he has found his strengths. He is not going to be a matchwinner for us every week because he has not mastered the art of goal scoring. What he does possess is pace, physicality and now workrate. This for me is what has made him so improved, simply understanding his game. On his day a top L1 player, who is repaying all the people that stood by him when some gave him hell.

Good on his day but far from being a top player at this level.

Based on his in and out season last year you would think it was a 1 year deal so if thats the case i would hope the club are trying to extend it.

A glance at the player ratings threads shows that he is by far the highest rated Rovers player this season, as judged by a fan-base that was pretty antipathetic towards him at the start of the season. Opposition coaches and fans often single him out when talking about us. I think he does a great job playing a difficult role for us and can still find loads of improvement at his age. I really hope we can hang on to him!

Apart from what Ellis does on the pitch, imo he has been consistently brilliant this season, let's not forget that he also plays a very important role in the dressing room.
You can tell from his interviews he's a very funny bloke, I expect he keeps the teams spirits high with all his banter.
Also let's not forget he is still quite young so has time to improve even further. I expect he is definitely attracting interest from other clubs so if he's only on a 1 year deal then we should sign him up for 2 more!

Harrison can be effective and 'good on his day', not great by my definition. His work rate should be commended and his improvement of late is testiment to DC's coaching. 7 goals and 2 assists in 27 is respectable but certainly nothing to go overboard about. Good luck to him and I hope he continues his improvement but I would be amazed if bigger clubs took interest.

A top League One player that's currently joint 23rd in the League One goalscoring chart and has 2 assists to his name? An improved player certainly but top is clearly way off the mark.

Agree to disagree I'm afraid, he got 2 assists Saturday so a few more to his name than 2!

Without doubt Ellis has become one of the hardest working players in the side and without doubt causes, as he did against Bradford, nightmares. A player who I use to consistently not rate has become this season a player in my best eleven from the current squad.
