Not surprised that this place is displeased at adding a 3-time L1 promotion winner to the squad. Says a lot I guess.

He is a lifelong Millwall fan and stalwart of the club. The club captain.
Last season he was almost ever present in a promotion season from this league.
He must be gutted to have been cast aside this season in the championship after being a hero for them. He has only started 1 championship game.
If he is in the right frame of mind then he could be a cracking signing. Obviously DC saw him up close twice last year and has a great record at bringing the right characters into the dressing room, so I'm very hopeful.
One nagging thing for me is that I hope this doesn't mean Locks' injury is worse than initially expected. Though of course, Craig is another left-sided centre-back. Can't see us keeping 4 of those for too long.

Not sure anyone has said they're displeased, just slightly sceptical about signing someone who turns 33 in a few weeks and is obviously past his best. The fact Millwall are ready to release him suggests they no longer think he's good enough for them, hopefully he can still prove to be an asset in L1. I personally don't see him displacing Lockyer or Broadbent and doubt he now has the pace to be a first choice full back but he would be good cover for both positions.

I've counted about 6/7 in this thread alone that seem happy enough with the potential signing. Football is a game of opinions and not everyone is going to agree. For what it's worth it think it would be a decent signing and his experience could prove invaluable.

Would be a decent squad player and useful on the training field, passing on his experience etc, even partly viewed as a player/defensive coach?. I've been massively impressed with how well Broadbent has settled into League One so worry his first team opportunities could get restricted. I wonder what TC's expectations would be in terms of playing time?

I can’t see him wanting to come here to sit on the bench

Can’t see this one happening. Though would be good to have him around the place to nurture the likes of Broadbent, Rollin and Locks. Not sure we entirely need him - feel we need to focus on players who can give us width and more flair in the final third.

Despite us having plenty of CBs we need some leadership on the pitch. Think we have found one. Well done DC.
Hopefully Otis Khan will also sign and add some more flair to our team as well.

I wonder what TC's expectations would be in terms of playing time? Why would a Millwall 1st team squad player be happy to just sit on the bench for last 18 months of his playing career, when surely it would be a lot easier for him to find a club nearer home, unless he's relocating to the west country when he retires. Plus don't we need a right footed CB not another left footer. Although I can't see there's anything to back up this rumour, apparently earlier this month he was even in talks to extend his contract? www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/exclusive-millwall-defender-in-contract-talks/

Defensive Coach in a couple of years too a la Steve Yates...This would be a cracking signing on all fronts.

If this does happen, I wonder if we'll see the 3-5-2 again soon. Could fit in Locker, Craig and Broadbent/Sweeney into that formation and use Bola and Leads as wing-backs. It would keep the Harrison-Gaffney partnership up top. We'd have to drop one of the CMs, but we're an injury away from having to do that anyway.

stop thinking like a manager and start demanding something else

Really don't want a secondary solution to the winger and hopefully we will bring in one or two wingers ,maybe one permanent and one on loan to have a look at. Certainly wouldn't turn nose up at a player of Craigs experience but not convinced we will be able to match his wages.

14 defeats and 45 goals conceded from 29 games suggests that over all the squad has severe defensive issues. The act the team are unbeaten since Christmas and have conceded just 5 from 6 games shouldn't fool people into thinking everything is ok. The team had the same issues last season. Sinclair in his interview on the official site today says the same thing essentially.
With more defenders then the club will not have to play through loan players bad form hoping they will improve. As much as I like Sweeney if BRFC sign other defenders then he only plays if he is on top form from now on.
