Home and away attendances and the massive following at Wembley were much bigger factors in making us a viable purchase than a rented stadium from a poorly negotiated deal. Attendances in Div 2 when the ALQ's started talks were only around 6,000I doubt that was the big attraction and given Wael's interview post the takeover it's pretty clear what was one of the biggest attraction: Football fans and local entities have been “very welcoming” to Al Qadi, and he is hoping to repay them by finally completing a long-mooted stadium relocation. “They want a new stadium, they need a new stadium,” he said. “The previous owners did a lot of good work in getting the planning permission and agreements in place for the stadium to go ahead.” Legal issue have hindered the move for a decade as the club continues to play at the Memorial Stadium. “We kind of inherited that,” he said. “So we have to wait until this is resolved and we have to study everything to make sure everything is aligned and in place before going ahead with the stadium because we don’t want any road bumps" Although that only has to be good news as if Wael still feels the same way hopefully he's still pressing ahead with getting the stadium situation resolved. Our three home attendances prior to the takeover were: Plymouth 23/1/16 10,190 Luton 2/1/16 9,131 Orient 28/12/15 9,836 I think they had a fair idea of our potential for big crowds!

i know that whoever our owners are they will always be trying to improve or build a new stadium but m not that interested in talk because I’ve heard it all before. Doesn’t make any difference to me if our owners said there putting planning in for a 30,000 stadium or regenerating the Mem or whatever, I’ll just let them get on with it and if they manage to actually get anything built then great. Until then it’s just talk and I’ll keep supporting the team. UTG

So proof that Wael was talking sense when he suggested we needed a new stadium immediately after the takeover?

You've just gone from saying that attendances were not a factor in the takeover because they were poor, to arguing that they were a factor because they were big.

Buying a site on the quiet then unveiling plans for a new stadium would be a feat worthy of Copperfield. There would be far more talk than two posters on a forum claiming to be in the know. You cant keep a significant land purchase like that under wraps Yeah, I think that may be unrealistic. It's funny how a handful of people run away with "Land has been lined up and purchased" from my post. For all I know the decision that we are waiting on may be from Hani deciding if he wants to jack it all in!! If I had to make a guess I reckon we have found a site that may be suitable and we have had an informal chat with the local authority. We've then had a look at what the Mem site has to offer and we are in the early process of negotiation about possibly buying a bit of land. I stress again, that I am very much making a reach here and that my earlier post is more or less the sum total of my knowledge. The thing with Rovers these days is that we run a much tighter ship. You have to spend a good deal more time listening to what is not said, ask the right questions and even then you are only left with an educated guess as to what's going on behind the scenes. The days of loose lips are long gone. Frustrating, but professional. And this is why the remaining leakers tend to bring disgruntled rumours about the club. Because they are being phased out, they know it and they don’t like it. So it’s mostly always negative of course until they all move on.

One year from now I'm predicting that there will be no plans about a new ground. Who agrees?

You've just gone from saying that attendances were not a factor in the takeover because they were poor, to arguing that they were a factor because they were big. I never said the size of the crowds etc weren't a factor just the fact that the stadium plans were a big factor in the ALQ's buying the club, after all if we didn't have potential to fill a 22,000 seat then there's little point in building it in the first place.

One year from now I'm predicting that there will be no plans about a new ground. Who agrees? I think a lot of people will be disappointed if there is nothing before end of the season. One thing having plans actually getting permission and having to fight people that oppose the plans will take just as long. Sooner they get on with it the better.

I would expect a question or two regarding new ground/Mem redevelopment. Hey maybe they will even announce something
