My whatever happened to the old songs thread. Did the Likely Lads remove it? Yeah, I merged it with this one, as I merged the other two threads with this one, and as I just merged your thread asking where all the other threads are with this one.

You are my Rovers, my only Rovers You make me happy when skies are Grey (and Blue & White) You'll never notice how much I love you So please take my Rovers Away!!!! Etc I’m glad this song in particular isn’t heard much anymore - always angers me how 99% of people sing “never notice” instead of “never know dear”! And yes, I am fun at parties.

Having a drunken sing song with some mates a fair while ago. When one sang a song i really liked from a Def Leopard record.
I got the Rovers in my blood. Whaoh The blue and white quarters we all love. Whaoh And i want And i need And i love The rovers. And i want And i need And i love The Rovers.
Rapeat over Don't remember hearing it since, i enjoyed singing it anyway. Think it's called animal.

There is a Green Hill far away ... etc.... For he's a jolly good fellow..
The famous Bristol Rovers went to Rome to see the Pope .....
We used to be quite religious, at one point.
We need the BRFC Chaplain to start up a choir practice on Holloway Hill to get everyone going prior to each game..
Benn Gunstones 'Tote End Boys' needs to be belt out from the Blackthorn/North/Thatchers End one day. I bet that would raise the hairs on the back of his neck.

I'm of the 'younger generation' and some of these songs I've never heard.
Why not start them and keep them going? I get sick of the same few over and over again.
You have to be brave and start a song you want to hear.

Talking of singing the wrong words, for those that don't know the words to bow legged chicken, take a look below.
I'm a bow legged chicken, I'm a knock kneed hen I ain't been so happy since I don't know when I walk with a wiggle and I wiggle when I walk Doing the tote end boot walk
The 3rd line is not "I walk with a wiggle and a wiggle and a walk" as I so often hear. People seem to sing what they hear and then pass it off as genuine. Gets my goat. And I think I go to the same parties as you

Can remember in the league two season, me and Scrappydoo were at the Mansfield game. At the end there was a line of cops outside allegedly "protecting" us from the Mansfield teenage "mob". We heard "you're going home in a Mansfield ambulance" to which we replied Nah "we're going home in a green ford focus". And then they all ran away. Made us chuckle.

It's bloody hard enough earning it! I had £75 on Rovers, Sevilla and PSG today, £455 was far more exciting than the cold 😂 Also had a tenner on Burnley 2-1 The only game I've really checked my phone was the 3-2 win at home to Rochdale, had 4 games, match winner and both to score, Charlton v Bradford was the only one letting me down, missed the last 15 mins of our game watching the Charlton game, it finished 1-1 and I missed out on £7,600. So I hope they both miss the play offs!

Could it be that the new generation don't know the words to these older songs and therefore don't sing them whilst the older fans who used to sing them have moved to different parts of the ground or have stopped going to games for whatever reason. Starting new songs probably aren't as easy because of the fact that new songs are more commonly shared on social media rather than by a couple of blokes watered up in a pub and therefore getting them around fans isn't easy? Hit the nail on the head, back in my 'yoof' the back of the blackthorn on the right side was mental, used to have a proper laugh, in full voice constantly, now that section is full of 11 year old that have brought their girlfriends along for the game trying to be cool to cop a feel of a padded bra later that evening with a bottle of white lightning down the local park. We've all moved, I stand at the other end of the blackthorn now, and when my daughter is a bit older (she's 2 months) we'll probably move into the family terrace, and I won't be quite as animated and opinionated towards the players and officials as I have been previously. The young uns now just aren't anything like we were, when it went quiet - if there wasn't a song on the way someone would scream something hilarious or some completely unnecessary abuse, and we'd all start going again When we played the Ted's 07, Basso's Bisexual - when was the last time we proper went at a keeper? Few years ago i imagine it was horrible to defend in front of the blackthorn, because they got 45 mins of noise and abuse. In the last 7-10 years I've always preferred the away games, and Tuesday nights at the mem, the atmosphere isn't fantastic any more, it's not bad, but there's long spells of silence When the fixture list came out the game I was most looking forward to was Plymouth away, I'm not expecting a result, but I'm going to take my old man down for his birthday, get hammered, and enjoy myself
