To me it seems that the new generation want to stick with 3 or 4 songs and keep them rolling over if you try to start an oldie you soon get drowned out with a newbie

Whatever happened to 'Rovers man'? Loved that one back in the day, haven't heard it since Holloway was manager.

I agree, I’ve thought this myself. Although our support in terms of numbers hasn’t got worse in the last few years, I think in terms of constant singing it has, and I think that is due to the lack of variety in the songs. Obviously I love Irene but it loses its magic touch a bit for me when it’s sung every 5 minutes.
Also, what happened to individual player songs? We barely sing any these days. I remember around the time of the 2007 promotion season and the following seasons, the team used to come and do their final warm up in front of the fans and we used to go through a full repertoire of songs for pretty much every player. I’m sure it must motivate players to hear their name being sung, would be nice to bring that back for a few more of the lads who have spent some time with us now. UTG!

Generation smart phone doesn’t help. Too many people staring at social media, bets, texts, sexts, and latest scores.

Could it be that the new generation don't know the words to these older songs and therefore don't sing them whilst the older fans who used to sing them have moved to different parts of the ground or have stopped going to games for whatever reason. Starting new songs probably aren't as easy because of the fact that new songs are more commonly shared on social media rather than by a couple of blokes watered up in a pub and therefore getting them around fans isn't easy?
