The reason I don't think our present owners can continue to run the club for much longer is that they seem to do everything backwards. We've had a few 'nice to haves' i.e. Bigger media team, more medical staff, London office, expensive legal representation, etc etc. I'd just like to know why we haven't even begun to put the infrastructure in place to pay for it all.
Now I understand that not only are we bringing in some guy from Plymouth who will be given the power of hire and fire over everyone currently at the club ( what does he know about our club ?), but he is also bringing his own PA with him.
Now not being of a cynical nature, I can only assume she must be a top notch typist, if we can't even find one of them up here in Bristol. I wonder how much this lady is going to cost the club? Personally, I'd rather see their wages added to Darrell's budget. I think I'm right in saying that she used to work at Notts County. Don't know why she left there, but I'm sure there are equally as efficient secretarial staff amongst our fan base.
Given the new guys remit of eliminating our losses, and boosting income, the easy answer for him would be to remove several of our present staff, who are dedicated gas heads of many years standing. My answer would be not to appoint him or his PA and that would save well over ยฃ100k pa, so what does our immediate future hold?
Well in my opinion, as there is still no planning submitted for either the training ground or the Mem/new stadium, we either get new owners who know how to run a football club, or we go bankrupt. We just cannot go on spending money that we don't have, with no means of recouping it.
The corridors of power are sounding optimistic. Heres hoping.๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐ค๐ค๐ค

Heres hoping.๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐ค๐ค๐ค What difference does it matter if the new Chief Exec knows anything about Rovers? He is presumably being brought in to run operations efficiently and run things properly. He knows how football clubs work so it's not exactly moving to a new industry he has no knowledge about.
Does he need a PA? I don't know, but if he does and has a good working relationship with someone what's the problem with bringing them in. It's not uncommon for people to bring in their own staff.
As for removing long standing Gasheads, it wouldn't be nice for them, but the pertinent question is are they any good at their job?
but hey lets stick the knife into the new bloke before he has even arrived
Warm Regards

Old news.Bigger media team and more medical team is part of the infrastructure so what the op says about that makes no sense.A typist from around here would cost the same as one from Plymouth I would think.Nothing to see here imo.

What good will it be to the ALQ's both financially & reputation wise if we do ever go bankrupt, surely if the latter was a real concern employing a CE & his PA would be the last thing they would be doing? Let's hope there is some news re the training ground plans soon.

So basically the op goes to the development game at almonsbury yesterday where wael, hamer, darrell clarke, marcus stewart and others are present and with a nice friendly smile on his face has a chat with someone or other to do with the club. He finds out a bit of extra information about the CEO having his own pa. Then he runs onto the forum and stabs the people he was smiling and talking to in the back in a naff attempt to stir people up.

This 'some guy from Plymouth who will be given the power of hire and fire over everyone currently at the club' what is his actual job title?
I know what the PA's job title is, that's easy:
'some guy from Plymouth who will be given the power of hire and fire over everyone currently at the clubs PA'

So a headline grabbing title (using the term "largesse" for a thread just to announce that the new CEO is bringing his own PA with him?
If you think a PA is just a glorified typist then I'm afraid you may well be in for a surprise. I've seen many new CEOs at my office over the years and they almost always bring in their own team to help them. They are the type of people that they know, understand their thought processes and are on board from the off unlike trying to recruit someone new who you don't know if the working relationship will come good. They are also people with no baggage and can be trusted ๐

You could say that Tom Gorringe didn't know anything about Rovers before he joined and the job he's done has been fantastic from what I've seen.

All guess work about whether things could go tits up over the next few years or massively improve or stand still. We donโt know weโll just have to wait and see and I donโt see the point in assuming the worst and doom mongering. What will it achieve ?
Let them get on with this evolution thing and see where it takes us I say, whatโs the alternative?

It didn't occur to you that she (or he?) might be an executive PA, not someone who makes the tea??? because that would be very likely wouldn't it? bringing your typist (or "tea lady" !!!) all the way from Plymouth. Just a thought, but don't we already have a company secretary (who could type and make tea??) (edit: oh and how does infrastructure pay for something?)
