I would take Crooks not O'Toole ...and/or Dave Buchanan as short-term replacement for Browner.

Never go back (apart from a few good examples). Can’t see he is good fit vs lines / Sercombe / Sinclair, think we could do better

I would take Crooks not O'Toole I thought he looked useless when he played for them at the mem earlier on this season. Wasn't he the one who got sent off?

I still don't know what he did so wrong, other than not wanting to be a non-league player, missing a header by a fraction against Mansfield, and having ambitions above his ability.
Without him that season we would have been doomed long before May 2014.
I think he's taken a huge amount of undeserved blame for our woes at that time.

Might as well get Chris Zebroski back too whilst we're at it!

Everything else aside he was a regular starter in a team that have just been relegated out of League 1 and when here was a regular starter in a team relegated out of League 2. Whether he was the best player in those two bad teams is irrelevant, he's clearly not better than what we've got.

I would have him back. He was carrying our side that season. He good footballer. Would be great addition to the spine of our team in my opinion. Controversial though, if he was apologetic for what seemed like arrogance first time around then I don't see there being a problem. Imagine him in the centre of midfield with Sercombe, Bennet on one side and another new player on the other. agree our best player by a mile that season, he might have improved his attitude, and could work out a second time round

He couldn't jump the sinking ship fast enough when the likes of Brown chose to stick around and bail it out one arduous bucketful at a time. The thought of having him back just as Brown is departing feels all wrong to me and I'm in no hurry to see him make a reappearance. That he's had a part to play in two relegations makes me wonder as well. Having said that, if DC thought he was a good fit (seems unlikely), I'd draw a line under it all and back him at least to a small degree the minute he put the shirt on again.
I can't see why he'd want to come back here anyway, given all the hostility he'd probably face.

O'Toole is a no from me. I don't discount that he's a decent player on his day but he could well be an unsettling influence in the dressing room.

Major scapegoat for our relegation out of the league despite being top scorer. On his day a tenacious goal scoring midfielder who would grace any league one side. Would never have him back though as he would be a reminder of those dark days. I expect he will go to someone like Wycombe and score the winner against us.

Never go back (apart from a few good examples). Can’t see he is good fit vs lines / Sercombe / Sinclair, think we could do better Linsey went off to Sheffield Wednesday, came back via P.V. and is now one-of-own (again). Brilliant. Definitely have Taylor back, although his wages would probably prevent that ever happening. JJOT better than Sinclair but not as good as Liam, so that would be a no, and I do not see him being a DC type of player, and Chris Zebroski has served his time and playing for Eastliegh (I believe), probably too late for him to get back into a football league team.

So often we ,as supporters are worse than the player involved and cut our own throats. John Jo O Toole- Without him in our relegation season we would have been down by Christmas. Matty Taylor- Without his goals we would not be where we are now. Short memories some people have . I would take both players back no problem at all IF DC WAS HAPPY TO HAVE THEM. That said can't ever see Matty Taylor coming back on the wages we offer and who would in their right mind. Just put yourself in the same situation but a more boring occupation!!.

Put yourself in the same situation.( Steve 192 previous post). Players throughout the land will be assessing their options about now. Some will have several offers. Some will be hoping for any offer. Most will choose the highest monetary reward on offer.Few will relish our Dickensian facilities. NB.Both Billy Bob and Snakey un-used subs Sat.

Why would we want a player who has a habit of playing in teams that get relegated?

Arrogant, Self Centred, Overated P***k. Attitude of a spoilt 7 year old. He scored a few goals in our relegation season, but overall attitude of the player was like playing with 2 men short most of the time. One of the reasons we got relegated IMO. Top of my list of ex players I would not want back here.

This is a fun thread! How about putting together a teamsheet of players you'd not want back at the gas. Not based on ability, just based on being utter wankers...
John Joe O'Toole and Turncoat Taylor probably first on the teamsheet as they were most recent but there's got to be a good list of others we can add. Who was the guy who used us as a stepping stone to get to Plymouth a few years back? Can't remember his name but he was a total toerag. And can I suggest Paul Buckle as the manager?
Fire at will...
