I make the squad looking something like this by reading through the lines of all the rumours.:
GoalkeepersButland Pickford Pope DefendersTrippier Walker Maguire Stones Jones Rose Young MidfieldersDelph Henderson Dier Lingard Alli Loftus-Cheek Lallana Livermore Sterling StrikersKane Vardy Rashford Welbeck Not enough CBs surely? Surely Tarkowski deserves a go, and I would take Shelvey over Livermore in the midfield department. I assume that Walker, Stones and Maquire will start. Jones will be cover, and if needed Dier can drop in there.

Walker (going as a CB) Maguire Stones Jones Dier (played there for Spurs often) Definitely agree with Shelvey over Livermore - I’m amazed Shelvey isn’t going. One of the most technically gifted CMs we have and not sure any midfielder in the squad matches his range of passing.

I think Tarkowski is going but forgot to put him in. In which case I'd imagine either a midfielder or Welbeck will be left out for him. Would be funny if Southgate said this half an hour after naming his squad! "Er, sorry, I forgot about...."

Yeah I do see your point, although I don't agree with the notion of selecting Walker as a CB, what's the point when his natural position is wide? Also whilst it's certainly debatable, I think the likes of Tarkowski and even Dunk, have performed better than Jones, and I'd like to see the likes of those given a go. Very disappointed for Shelvey that he misses out, particularly if nondescript players like Livermore are selected.

Amazes me why people would choose physical players over technical ones. How could you possibly prefer watching the likes of Livermore and Welbeck over Shelvey and Wilshere.
Suppose that’s why we will always be behind nations like Spain, Brazil etc.

Just thankful that when watching the younger England set ups it’s more about tactical moves and passing. Watched the under 17’s the other day they played some great stuff.

We've got a very talented generation of players coming through. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Jadon Sancho, Phil Foden, Emile Smith-Rowe, Rhian Brewster, Bobby Duncan, Eddie Nketiah, Reo Griffiths, George McEachran, Marc Guehi, Trevoh Chalobah, Xavier Amaechi, Taylor Richards, Oliver Skipp, Callum Gribbin, Tommy Doyle, Keke Simmonds and Fabio Carvalho all outstanding prospects.

Yeah I do see your point, although I don't agree with the notion of selecting Walker as a CB, what's the point when his natural position is wide? Because when you’re playing a back three, your wider CBs need to be comfortable going and defending out wide - especially when England are counter-attacked and the wingback on that side (e.g Trippier) is still coming back from an attacking position. Chelsea did the same last season with Azipilicueta. He’s been a RB all his career but Conte used him as the RCB in their back three last season and he was superb. Walker and Azpilicueta are far more comfortable going wide and defending when the back three is stretched than Jones, Smalling, Cahill, Tarkowski etc. are. And against weaker opposition such as Tunisia and Panama, playing Walker as the RCB means that he can effectively play as a second wingback on that side anyway and make underlapping runs through the pitch. He won’t be needed to defend much in those games and it gives us another option in attack. He played very well there in the last two England friendlies.

I'd like to see these players have the courage to try their hand at playing abroad, unlike the namby pamby players we've had the last several years. Jadon Sancho going to Dortmund is an encouraging sign. I do think that having more players playing on the continent would help when it comes to tournament football.

I'm sure the spell playing over there will have been good for Ademola Lookman's progress too. He scored and made a couple of assists a few days ago to make it 5 goals and 4 assists from 11 Bundesliga games.

Makes no idea what players we take, Southgate is as inspirational as a beige custard. Best we can hope for is an early exit and a new manager. Hugo, so what do you make of Löwe as manager of Germany? He's cut from the same cloth as Southgate, and he hasn't done too badly has he? Got to give the bloke a chance before you can criticize him eh ? What is there in his management record that gives you confidence in him? He completely fails to inspire when he speaks. It's dull, monotone FA speak. Literally nothing about Southgate is exciting. Actually, now I think about it, I was wrong. He's a perfect fit for England.

I think room has to be found for Ryan Sessegnon and Trent Alexander-Arnold. We can hope 🙏

World Cup winner Lowe does not have any record at all in management. Just saying.
