What is there in his management record that gives you confidence in him? He completely fails to inspire when he speaks. It's dull, monotone FA speak. Literally nothing about Southgate is exciting. Actually, now I think about it, I was wrong. He's a perfect fit for England. World Cup winner Lowe does not have any record at all in management. Just saying. World Cup winner Lowe.....

I don't know. The point is being a successful club manager does not necessarily make you a good international manager, with Lowe proving the point. After all, England has had much success appointing 'successful' club manager's in the past haven't they, so why change that approach eh?

Love him or loathe him, he has just helped Liverpool to a Champions League QF. Welbeck, Jones and Cahill however, can count themselves lucky.

Henderson was always going to be there. Im more questioning how on Earth Danny Welbeck has made it
Everyone else I agree with (although may not agree with the first 11)
The good thing we do have though is competition for every spot (for the first time in years). Before it was always the same players guaranteed their position. Those twats have retired now and apart from Kane, Sterling & Alli - I don't see any absolute stand out first names on the team sheet. Perhaps Walker & Henderson but thats it

I know what you’re saying, but who is the alternative? Wouldn’t want to burden Kane with it. Cahill doesn’t come across as the sharpest tool in the box. We’re not really breeding leaders at the moment. At least Henderson does the job for Liverpool. Edit: just realised captain hasn’t yet been named!!

Henderson has been excellent for Liverpool all season, is a leader (Liverpool captain) and a genuine defensive midfielder. It would have been shocking if he didn’t make the squad! He’ll start every game in the summer if fit, and rightly so.

Only one I question, is Welbeck? Purely as, he’s not scored many goals this year. But he’s never let England down, when played. I’m out there for the Belgium game, and round of 16, if we progress. Can’t wait!!

Rubbish.
10 defenders, plus 2 midfielders that can play there. Just incase we have a crisis.
Clearly playing:
- 5 at the back. - Walker as CB
Too clever for its own good

It's an interesting squad. It seems as though his preferred formation is three at the back with two wing-backs, hence Trippier and Young being selected. However, with Rose and Alexander-Arnold included it shows that he may also switch to a flat back four at some point. My opinion is that he'll definitely use three at the back for the first couple of games, as the lesser teams will only play one up front. How many times in the past have we seen England struggle to break down teams who have no real intention of going forward, and we have lined-up with four at the back AND a defensive midfielder?

Southgate is trying something new and deserves a chance. If you actually watched the qualifying games you’d know that Walker played CB against Holland and had a great game.

Can’t believe the Henderson negativity, I think he has had a great season and is a leader. I’m disappointed Llanna is only on standby but that could be more to do with his recent injury.

I don’t disagree that Walker played well against Holland at CB. But: - Walker is by far our best right back. No need to over complicate it. Play him at CB if that’s the judgement but not at the cost of taking another RB. Last season Chelsea successfully played 5 at the back on their way to a league title. Playing 38 games, winning the season with games in hand, they only used 9 defenders. In a league you have navigate more injuries. Often, you start a campaign with injuries. The demands of a World Cup are not the same. You don’t start with injured players, you play less games, and it’s a knock-out tournament! Forgive me, if I’m not excited by 6 full backs. I do like that he has a clear plan. The execution is wrong.
