Why bother signing wingers when the manager prefers his full backs to do that job? Bennett hasnt played for rovers as a winger as i remember it? What would he tell the winger he was trying to sign when asked what system the team play? DC said he wants to sign two wingers, perhaps you should ask him that question... I think he would count matthews as a winger,ie an attacking midfield player who can drift wide at times.

Yes, it’s a good point to make but I guess were he to have the players to do it then DC might play more with wingers. That he hasn’t had wingers has probably restricted the systems he can play. Time will tell. UTG!

I reckon DC is just waiting to see who shines at the World Cup. With all the improvements at the Mem showing that the AQ's have finally opened their wallet, I'm pretty sure that DC will be able to take his pick of the World Cup stars....oh yes indeedy.

With Rory gone and with Telford unlikely to be here next season I would imagine DC has someone, possibly two strikers lined up to be signed over the next two weeks. Going into July with only Ellis and Nicholls might leave us a bit vulnerable to being short when pre-season starts. Pretty sure DC will have it covered. UTG!

I can't see there's any confirmation Telford has signed a new contract at Stoke and I also see he wished Gaffers well with his move, so he hasn't cut all his ties with Rovers, as seems the case with Sweeney. So he remains a possibility.

Perhaps, but I’d still say Telford is unlikely. But who knows, DC keeps it all quiet doesn’t he and I trust he’ll have it covered one way or the other. UTG!

Which makes Telford coming here less likely imo. UTG!

Almost there.
Have a feeling we may settle on 1 LB.

2 left backs - TBC 1 midfielder - DONE - Ed Upson & Sam Matthews 2 wide players - Alex Rodman & Sam Matthews (one more?) 2 strikers - Gavin Reilly and TBC (OUT Rory Gaffney) 1 right back - TBC (Danny?) Plus one or two more 1 Stadium Redevelopment 1 Training Ground 1 defensive coach - Graham Coughlan Who next ? I thought I heard in one interview that Matthews was being grouped in with the likes of Rodman, Bennett and Mensah so I would class him as one of the wide players.

Can play anywhere in midfield, but played quite a bit from the right last season, even though he's a naturally left footed player.

Not sure splashing out high wages on a left back who has hardly played competitive football, the last couple of seasons, would be an effective way of spending our budget.

Our budget could accommodate a signing like Garbutt, if the Al Qadi family wanted.

Ridicilous comment pirate. Lansdown could go out and splash £100k a week on players if he wanted for City but you have to have some structure. And you can't just suddenly bring a player on a ridiculous wage to everyone else. I trust us to sign a decent LB without going mad on wages.
