I notice on the BBC League One page, we're in the playoff places already with the best goal difference we've had for a long time.
Could be a sign of a very good season to come.

2 signings in and 1 out, plus no returning Telford = we aren't going to set the division alight ! but hopefully more quality Sercombe-type signings to come. A good start to the season would also be a bonus.

With the proper signings, two strikers and a left back, and keeping what we’ve got there’s no reason to think we won’t compete. UTG!

A good start to the season would also be a bonus. More than one out, including players like Brown who didn't sign new deals. Still think we have a chance of signing Telford, hoping we have atleast 4 decent signings yet.

We certainly need the type of players you're suggesting but what many are forgetting is that we had one of the worst defensive records in the league and there doesn't appear to be a lot of focus on this area. We actually scored a lot goals last season - if we had conceded perhaps 10 fewer we would more than likely been a top six side.

A good start to the season would also be a bonus. It’s 8 out if you include loanees (Moore,Burn,Broom,Brown, Gaffney, Telford, Bola and Sweeney) so there is still a lot of activity to come from us you feel. I’m hoping for Sercombe-type signings for a left back, right winger and a striker, we can then go and achieve depth with some promising players who have potential to break into the first team. A good start to the season is crucial, in our two previous seasons at this level we have done poorly in the first half of the season and then gone on to do much better in the second half. If we can rectify this and get ourselves somewhere in the top half of the table by Christmas, we could be set for a good season. A win on the first day of the season for once would be nice aswell although that’s probably asking for too much.

Ben Heneghan could be that man. 6ft 4in and just been transfer listed at Sheffield United. I like the 6ft 4in former loanee Cian Bolger, but suspect it will be difficult to prise him away from Fleetwood. Dorian Dervite is 6ft 3in and been released by Bolton. All of those would improve us.

It would also make a real statement about us and give confidence a big boost. Whether it happens...different matter! 😀 UTG!

Heneghan could be a good call - higher rated player a season or two ago - doesn't appear to have had a look in at Sheffield United. Still only 24 - it could solve the LB problem with TC moving there and keeping his experience across the back line for now.

Could be a sign of a very good season to come. That is ******* we need D.C. to bring in a bit of quality asap or we will be in the bottom six not the play offs

Current squad I think we’ll come somewhere between 3rd and 20th Too good and too good mentally to go down but not good enough for top two. Still plenty to do in the window yet though a couple more good signings like the Upson one and maybe I can narrow it down to 1st - 12th. Lots still up in the air because it’s earky days will be interesting to see who Gafneys replacement is , also Browner and if there’s any others or maybe he’ll bring the development side through , we’ll see. Looking forward to it even though watching all these world class players in the World Cup has been a treat.

I've got the feeling July is going to be pivotal both on and off the pitch.
The New CEO starts in just over a week and we clearly expect players to be recruited.
As far as the playing staff go, I would hope we sign two strikers with at least one with a proven track record.
Things are going to get interesting, hope it is for good reasons.

Totally agree that July will be crucial. Two quality strikers needed,Board intentions re the re-build and training ground plans well overdue. Can only hope there is a lot going on behind the scenes soon to be revealed soon.Couple of early wins and sell-outs at the Mem I reckon.Looking forward to being amongst Gasheads instead of ;Stokies,Vale and Wolves fans up here. Well move back to Bristol then and stop bloody moaning! 😄

Well, it’s now July. I can’t wait to see who we sign by 5pm on the the 9th August....but won’t be surprised if we don’t complete our business until the 31st. Lol.

Squiffy we CAN'T complete our business by 31st as under the new rules signings have to be made before the first game. In my mind that is good because it will force Darrell to get a move on. We need at least six signings to even compete with last season because otherwise it will only take a couple of injuries and we will be struggling as was shown at the end of the season. Two strikers, two more wingers, a dominating centre half and a left back as absolute minimum and they need time to settle in!!

Sorry, it was a pathetic attempt at humour. As I understand it teams outside of the top flight can still sign unregistered players and loanees up until the 31st August, the FIFA deadline, I.e. our normal modus operandi.
