Defence still looks very suspect to win a major tournament, as soon as a decent team attacks us with purpose we will crumble. You could say the same about most teams in this World Cup. The art of defending is becoming a lost art!

😂 In an all seated stadium with a referee wired up and waiting for instructions from a room full of people watching screens in an unknown location. Yeah right... Bore off. You're actually quite pathetic. If we win enjoy sitting at home pretending you don't care. Brillant, clearly touched a nerve. Watching games live > watching games on TV. #realfootball

Don't worry about it, ggmi is just pised that he didn't start a thread himself. So you want us to fail too? Um, OK sure. Ggmi, putting words into other peoples posts yet again.

In 5/10 years time all EFL teams may have VAR. Won’t stop it being real football. Things change, they always do and we change with it. UTG!

Championship perhaps, but I can't see that tech rolled out for L1 and L2. I'm all for positive change (changing game time to 60 minutes in play) but using VAR in it's current format would fill me with dread.

Perhaps. I can understand us not wanting it and perhaps filling us with dread but change happens and we adjust. Don’t think the powers that be worry too much about our feelings!😉 UTG!

Quite a passive way of looking at it surely? VAR is driven by money so I can't see it appearing in the lower leagues for the foreseeable future. Here's hoping anyway.

I suppose it is a passive way of looking at it but experience tells me that you can’t put the block on technological advances. They happen, we might not like it but FIFA, the individual FAs around the world will be driven by money not the views of people like us. So of course I look at things passively because we have our views but they will not be that high on the considerations of football authorities. Like most changes, technological or procedural after a lot of hype and hand wringing at the beginning it settles down, we get used to it and football carries on. Already VAR has settled down. After all those penalties when players thought they were wrestlers things have changed. Players realise if they use both arms to wrestle attackers to the ground a penalty will be given so it stops. Refs through VAR have given pens, players have realised and stopped. Even the diving has been moderated. That must be a good thing. It seems in the last week that the VAR timings have got better, better refs know how to use it and right decisions get made, it has to be good I would have thought. Blimey even Shearer has stopped moaning about VAR this week! UTG!

WOW just f**king WOW! How can you not be proud to be English after that! 3 words - It’s coming home! And UTG by the way. The way we’re doing playing with pride and passion reminds me of the way the Gas have been over the last four years. When Southgate talks about his team he rarely talks about technique and ability but bangs on constantly about togetherness and team spirit. Remind you of anyone ? This World Cup feels like an extension of the Rovers vibe taken on in to the summer on the World stage.

Really enjoying the unexpected success of the England team to date. Shops are doing a roaring trade in drinks and food, as people have house parties, and the pubs with big screens must be raking it in. With social media, the feel-good factor has been spread far and wide with some very witty memes, just what we need after months of doom mongering and Brexit debate. If England weren't playing, I'd have no problem backing Scotland, Wales or N. Ireland. Let's enjoy it while it lasts! Yeah, me too. I give the Welsh, Scots and Irish the same amount of love and support they give us.

Living in an area of Wales where many speak Welsh and English, I am quite staggered at the massive level of support for England not only the youngsters but the old timers like me. My 5ft St George cross flag has gone down very well and a smaller BRFC flag continues to fly proud in my Welsh neighbours garden. UTG!

Viewings of the original Three Lions video have gone up from 4 million to almost 13 million in the last two weeks.
I've personally watched it 8 million times, but others are also involved.

Really enjoying the England games, everybody l know are loving the journey, this team could win the World Cup, happy days. Personally l understand the other home nations hating England’s success, l would not support them either. It’s coming home. If not, it’s been a great distraction while wIting for the Gas to start playing friendlies. Utg.

What’s not to like about England doing well? Seeing us come through against Columbia was fantastic against a team who had no interest in playing football. Had Alf Ramsey been the England manager he would have called them what they were just as he did against the Argentinians in ‘66 but Gareth was diplomacy personified! More comfortable against Sweden and was able to enjoy it more. It’s been great. And it’s filled the gap and will do up until Rovers start playing friendlies. By the time the World Cup ends we will be well into friendlies and have some Rovers stuff to talk about. (I mean real stuff not just regurgitated and recycled same old, same old) UTG!

Despite my best efforts I just can't get that enthused by this current England team nor the 'football's coming home' hullabaloo. Yes Southgate's done a good job and got them playing as a unit and for each other which is more than can be said for other England sides of the last 10 to 15 years but World Champions - really? I was around for the 66 World Cup and we had a team of true Champions - 3 genuine world class players Banks, Moore, and Bobby Charlton backed up by the likes of Jimmy Greaves Jimmy Armfield Alan Ball and Ray Wilson. We beat Argentine Portugal (who were with Eusebio were one of the tournament favorites) and of course West Germany. At the end we really were undisputed winners and world champions. This team has beaten Tunisia, Panama ( Rio Ferdinand described them of being non league standard) squeezed past Colombia (missing their best player)and defeated a one paced functional Swedish team. We have lost to the one quality side we've met so far who rested their 3 best players (yes I know we made 8 changes as well)and created only one chance. England could well get to the final (Croatia despite having Modric Perisic and Rakitic look flawed) and after all it is cup football, if France or Belgium don't perform to their potential we could actually win it. But if that actually happens could we really say England are the best team in the World? I always feel the best team playing the best football should win the World Cup and I just don't think this team can live up to that billing.

For years I have supported the other home nations at tournaments and it’s good that they are embracing it too. for all that say the best football team has to win four words, Greece, Portugal, Leicester city. Its coming home embrace it, and get the bbq out beers chilled for super Sunday, I’m going to miss it off to Mr Bones house to watch wimbledon😂
