Reading a article in the evil post (yes i can read) about how much Bristol Rovers would accept for Ellis from Blackburn Rovers, How much do you think is acceptable ?
He has a long term contract with the Rovers and DC has stated in the past no release clauses are in contracts, i would expect an offer in excess of £1m would be the minimum acceptable

Depends on how long his contract is etc. Too many variables to guess.

If we don't make a good wedge, then we might as well scrap the the academy and youth side as will never make any money.
Ellis should be around 1 million mark if he is that highly rated.
Probably go for 500k or less though.

If we end up getting less than 1m plus add ons then we may as well give up but on saying that whatever we get for him you can bet your life we will replace him with a player on a free transfer and probably without a goalscoring record at this level. In all honesty it is a miracle that we scored as many as we did last season when you consider that Nicholls, Gaffney and Telford between them struggled to score ten!At the moment the striking positions are still my biggest worry for this season.

I'll ask tonight if any appropriate person is at the game.

If he was on a long contract, in today's market, I wouldn't accept anything less than £2m and if his contract runs out next summer then £1m. I'd rather keep the player though.

The problem is that you know whatever fee we got for Ellis the club will not spend that to replace him and the truth is that to replace Ellis will cost more than the fee we get for him.We are already one striker worst off than we were last season!

We're never getting 2m for Ellis!
If the club got offered around the 1m mark I reckon they would accept.

£300k same clause the snake had DC stated recently that no current contracts have a release clause in them Want to try again ? He also said he wouldn't sell Taylor for £10,000,000. He went for £300,000. Pinch of salt.

Whatever a club offers for any of our players, is the price that they will pay. We don't do haggling. We are and always have been a soft touch. Clubs know that they will get players from us on the cheap.

How soft a touch we are, will depend on his contract. If it's only one year then I hope we try and hold out for as much as possible but sell him now rather than in January. If it's longer than we should be really tough.

Of course we won't spend the same amount to replace him, certainly not on one player anyway. And rightly so. Say we get £1m...no way does a player of that value come to a League 1 club and even if he was interested, £1m players have huge wage demands to match. Should Darrell smash our wage structure for one player and risk disrupting the harmony of the group (which has been a major strength of the club under his tenure)? Of course not.
