So he is still under contract at Huddersfield? I assume then that he would join us on loan? I believe he is under contract until 30.06.2019. I wouldn't rule it out being a permanent move. The last thing DC said on the subject was: “We have still got a number one target which we are still working on. He is dealing with things at his football club and we will see how it goes.”

Looks tidy but Bradley Goldberg looked like Ronaldo in his highlights turned out to be more like Ronald McDonald 😂
Looks strong and pacy bigger than Bola which is good.

This has to be a risky signing - a gamble surely if true. One competitve match in 12 months before a serious injury - don't understand this personally. Darrell likes to ‘roll the dice’

He hasn't given any indication who the player is.

I think he means conor chaplin. Would we be prepared to break our transfer record to sign him, as Pompey reportedly want 400k? I think Coventry will be in pole position to get him after receiving £1.2mil for McNulty. That is very generous of you, I'm sure the club will appreciate the gift!

DC said in his Yeovil post match interview that he expects to get one over the line "before the end of the week" so that might be Holmes-Dennis. That’s two, Sherlock & The Menace. Thank goodness - I thought it was Katie and Les.

You have to assume Bodin's money went on Craig, Bennett & Mensah, so this summer it is down to whatever DC can squeeze out of the this season's budget, I doubt Upson & Reilly were at the cheap end of the market so you do wonder what's left for the LB & striker, hopefully still Gaffers transfer fee??

I didn't suggest that at all. We have been linked with the player and I pointed out the reported fee likely to get the player is £400k, which is a lot different to suggesting we should spend £400k.

Still think we would have money left over from the Bodin transfer as Craig and Bennett were free transfers plus like you say there is still the Gaffney money. I presume we are making more from sponsorship this year through the three deals and also the 1883 club which also made a fair bit so hopefully that will go into DC’s budget along with the increased revenue from season ticket sales caused by the price increase.

Regardless both their wages, and Mensah's, would have been added to last season's wage bill/overall wage budge.

There is no such thing as a free transfer. Most players want a £25k signing on fee for a starter, then the wages, tax, Ni, insurance, house move, bonus for appearances, goals, assists. To be honest I blame the Premier League for a lot of the ills in football, and the level of wages, which even DC thinks are high

I wished he'd never signed Bodin either. The statement is blatantly not true either. He played 17 times in the year before his serious injury, including 7 starts in the championship and coming off the bench in both legs of the play off semi final. He was clearly an emerging talent and then he had his injury. If he was going to have that injury at any time then at the age of 21 is probably the best time. That said, it is clearly still a risk, though we do have Craig, Kelly and James Clarke to cover the position whilst he returns to full match fitness. It’s a risk that could pay good dividends. James Clarke only played 5 games of the season himself due to injury and Joe Partington hasn’t played since March. As long as Holmes Dennis gets some minutes in pre season under his belt I’m not sure it will be the big concern that a lot are making it out to be.

Fact - he has played less than one whole competitive match in the last 12 months before injury finished his season in August of last year.

The reality is that we can't compete with the very top teams in this league. So we have to make a compromise somewhere down the line, whether that be on quality, injury prone etc. The fact Huddersfield paid £500k for him, says a lot in his favour. He would probably have been a mainstay in Pompey's team without his injury. Kyle Bennett said this about him after a friendly for Pompey together last year.. “Tareiq’s come in and he’s a brilliant player. It’s a great acquisition for the squad and you can already see what he’ll bring to the team.”
