Bristol Rovers are lining up a move for Huddersfield Town defender Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club. Holmes-Dennis is well down the pecking order in David Wagner's plans at the John Smith's Stadium and the club are open to offers for the full-back. The 22-year-old joined Portsmouth on a season-long deal last summer, but the move was cut short after Holmes-Dennis picked up a serious knee injury in his first game for the League One club. Holmes-Dennis was forced to return to Huddersfield for rehabilitation on the injury and he is now back to full fitness. A number of Football League clubs have expressed an interest in Holmes-Dennis this summer, but Bristol Rovers are leading the race for the former England Under-18 international. Rovers manager Darrell Clarke is keen to strengthen his squad this summer as he looks to build a side capable of challenging for promotion next season and he sees Holmes-Dennis as a key addition to his squad. Holmes-Dennis joined Huddersfield from Charlton in 2016, but struggled to hold down a regular spot in the side making just 15 appearances for the Terriers.

I like this one actually, got good potential and I know Charlton fans who said he would be the next young player to progress to higher levels from their academy. He’s approaching 23 and is at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing regularly, been out on loan at Pompey, Oxford and Plymouth in recent seasons. Really promising if we can get him.

DC said in his Yeovil post match interview that he expects to get one over the line "before the end of the week" so that might be Holmes-Dennis.

Rumours that their was a player in the stands yesterday. Maybe him and why DC sounds quite confident of getting it over the line. Played 1 game for Pompey last season before he got injured and they had to pay his wages. Quite ironic really, if he did well then he might still be there and Lee Brown might have stayed here!

What type of full back etc I've seen bits and pieces, but can only remember seeing him for 90 mins in games against Man City in the cup for Huddersfield. The first game he did well and played his part in a 0-0, but got torn apart by Raheem Sterling in the replay. From the little I've seen he looks good going forward, but can also defend on the ground and in the air. Could be a good signing.

This has to be a risky signing - a gamble surely if true. One competitve match in 12 months before a serious injury - don't understand this personally.

Hopefully he's been playing reserve/development football since returning form injury. I assume Pompey are now the new Salisbury as far as recruiting players are concerned, after Bennett, Widdington also possibly also Chapman joining us!!

I think he means conor chaplin. Would we be prepared to break our transfer record to sign him, as Pompey reportedly want 400k? I think Coventry will be in pole position to get him after receiving £1.2mil for McNulty.

So he is still under contract at Huddersfield? I assume then that he would join us on loan?

From the clips he looks like the sort of fullback Gerry Francis would have turned into a striker a la Billy Ocean/Carl Saunders!
