I sincerely hope that many will have to eat their words this Saturday. Extreme opinions about Puddy remind me of some of the extreme opinions bout DC that were being expressed less than a month ago.
Give the guy a chance - he's had to play 90 minutes against the best team in the division, at their place, when we were not together as a team. Then 50 minutes in an away game where we were down to 10 men.
Puddy gets a chance to play at the Mem for the first time on Saturday.I hope he has a quiet day and only has to pick his cap out of the net.

He's played at The Mem already, in that friendly a few weeks back against FGR, he conceded two then. Not a fan of his after his less than confident displays against Barnet and Eastleigh but I'm more than willing to get behind him. I'd love to be proven wrong about him and I'd happily admit I was wrong if he plays well Saturday. EDIT: That was a bit pedantic of me. He still is yet to play at a The Mem on a proper match day.

This will be the first time that's he's known he will be playing with a few days notice. The commentators said the defenders didn't look comfortable with him in goal. But surely they've trained like that and the defenders must know at some point he'd be in goal. I hope he doesn't have to do anything on Saturday. Although a few saves will boost his confidence.

As others have mentioned, Will Puddy was Salisburys' Player's Player of the Year last season (they finished 12th in the Conference) - shared with Stuart Sinclair btw. The guy is no mug and a few more of us should give him a chance.

In fairness we are talking about a player that played regularly at our level last year, not actually a bad option as a backup keeper and whilst Mildenhall is a tough act to follow, given he is still good enough to be a league keeper in my opinion, Puddy is a decent enough backup keeper.
Wiki sums up his performance last year pretty well .... Think we are lucky to have him, we could be playing a youth keeper with no experience at Conference level ...

Like I said, I'm more than willing to give the guy a chance but it makes you wonder why a player who supposedly did so well last season and won a club award for his performances only managed to get a club later on in the window and as back-up. Perhaps I'm just looking too far into it.

That's why he was still hanging around so late. Unless things have changed he's only with as a non contract player, which I think means if a club come in for him he can leave.

That's kind of what I meant. Why hasn't he found a Conference level club if he's meant to have done so well last season? Not that it matters much, just thought it was a little interesting considering the high praise he has meant to have received after last season.
