Its amazing and depressing how many people have written off gavin reilly almost as if he played for clifton rockets on the downs! He played for st mirren actually in the scottish championship. The same people are ready to jump for joy if we sign doidge from FGR who like reilly has never played in league one.

Pretty sure that one of our promotion seasons was off the back of goals coming from all over the team and having no stand out striker scoring the lions share of the goals for the season, complete faith in the most successful manager ever at BRFC to deliver an entertaining and positive season, just hope he doesn't read this forum, if you do DC remember many people back you, ignore the doom mongers and whingers showing no faith in besides your track record. Not sure I get your point to be honest.
2014/15 promotion season - Taylor scored 20.
2015/16 promotion season - Taylor scored 27.
Not sure either that anyone is doom mongers and whingers either and showing no faith, unless you are talking about 0.00001% of the forum, who for some dumb reason, wants DC gone! Otherwise, don't confuse those including me who think we will struggle this season (based on the current squad) as us being doom and gloom with no faith. Its just being realistic with what we got. However, if we improve our striking options, which I believe and I am sure many other will believe too, that DC will improve our striking options, that will change the predictions to a better season and possibly a great season.
Anyway, I am off to buy some more biscuits Why do you want more biscuits when you have that everlasting one?

What final position would you like to see us in at the end of the season i will start off by saying the same as last year and I think anything else will not show an improvement on last season so Top 10 with a positive goal difference Not being relegated would be good, 15th -20th great, mid table a massive ask anything higher very unlikely

I'm not writing off Reilly, but I do think the Scottish Championship is a poorer standard than League One. A number of players have even left the Scottish Prem for League One and said it is a step up in quality. Reilly has been replaced by a 25-year-old from the National League South.

It's kind of a weird time to ask this question. Yeah ask again when the window closes and we’ll have a better idea. Currently I’d say somewhere between 10th and 24th because it’s too eRly to say.

On paper, we have a midfield that will scare people. We have creative players, and the addition of Upson seems to be a great shield for the back four.
We have a decent defence, and again on paper one that can defend well and counter attack at speed down the wings.
It's the strikers, or rather the lack of goals in our most experienced striker.
On that basis, I'd be happy with 12th.

I just think we have lost 2 experienced forwards who have been with us a number of years and replaced them with a relative unknown. I fully support DC and I am looking forward to seeing GR in action.

Your quote not mine. I am basing it on the fact that we have just 2 strikers. "Actual" strikers quoted by Rovers management team on the web site is 7 with press statement that they are looking to increase that. Midfielders are quoted elsewhere as midfielders. Think I will follow the official management team for now when they are fully trained and qualified football coaches and seem to know a bit or two about team selection. Yes there are attacking midfielders as there are attacking fullbacks. Even defensive strikers as in the case of Harrison and Gaffney. Older fans from Twerton days will remember we signed a full back who became one of the best strikers "Carl Saunders" and a winger who became one of our best full backs "Jocky". The game is all about who scores more than the other team whoever scores them. Even goalkeepers score goals, doesn't make them strikers Can you name the 7 strikers for me please that we currently have in our 1st team squad. Those who are ACTUAL strikers and not those who can fill in when desperate for a goal. So their profile actually says striker. Thanks. If you can name 7 actual strikers and not wingers or attacking midfielders, I will shut the F up for a week I suggest you log onto the Rovers website and read for yourself. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/teams/first-team/ My point is not the players ability but your numbers game to quote incorrect numbers to make a point. Wether they be attacking fullback or defensive striker. What is a striker? a central striker, goal poacher, left or right striker, back to goal or facing goal striker, tall or short, big and robust or slim and nippy. With a bit of luck strikers, like Nichols given time, scores goal. I understand Rovers have a statistician who collects data of goal assists as well as goals scored amongst other complex data. The 1st team squad is Goalkeepers 3 all of whom played last season IMO I would expect 2 to play 1st team this season. Defenders 12 of whom IMO I would expect 7 - 8 to play this 1st team season Midfielders. 14 of whom IMO 9 - 10 IMO would play 1st team this season Strikers 7 of whom IMO 4 would play 1st team this season unless additional strikers are signed. There isn't a team in any division in any country in the world that couldn't be improved but they all have one thing in common. They all play with the players signed up. Good or bad. UTG

I've not seen GR so unsure what to expect really but on paper he looks a shrewd signing on a free. Should leave us with plenty in the budget for the 2 number 9s.

There isn't a team in any division in any country in the world that couldn't be improved but they all have one thing in common. They all play with the players signed up. Good or bad. UTG Oh my days! So just for fun, I looked at the first team on our OS. It does indeed list 7 strikers, well 8 if you include Harrison. The other 7 strikers listed for the first team are... Otudeko, Ebbutt and Kavanagh who are all actually in the development team, not first team. Mensah is a winger. Rodman is an attacking midfielder. That leaves Reilly and Nichols who are the only 2 actual strikers in the 1st team squad. Just because the OS says we have 7 strikers, doesn't mean its true. The OS still states we have Harrison as a striker. Does that mean its true? Did we not actually sell him then, because he is still on the OS listed so it must be true! The OS also once said we had a watertight contract with Sainsburys and remind me if that was true or not?
There is another thread discussing our lack of strikers which will confirm we have just 2 strikers. Hence why DC is saying we need another 2 strikers because we have just 2 strikers. Why would DC think he needs 2 more if he already had 7?
Anyway, im done discussing do we have 2 or 7 strikers as we've gone in circles too many times already. Believe what you like. UTG

How many strikers do you need when you only play with one? Like most teams i should add. You only need one if he’s tall, strong, good in the air, can hold the ball up, scores goals and never gets injured. Ellis Harrison did that well last year and Rory Gafney did it reasonably well for two years too.

We have plenty of goals in our midfield so we dont need a massive goalscorer just a good intelligent footballer who can hold the ball up.
