You only need one if he’s tall, strong, good in the air, can hold the ball up, scores goals and never gets injured. Ellis Harrison did that well last year and Rory Gafney did it reasonably well for two years too. Someone like ryan taylor at plymouth would be nice. We have plenty of goals in our midfield so we dont need a massive goalscorer just a good intelligent footballer who can hold the ball up. Yep maybe Reilly is that player we don’t know , but I don’t think any of us want to risk him as it , including DC and even if he is we need another for cover / rotation. The way I see it is we’ve lost our two best forwards and have replaced them so far with one striker from a Scottish league that mostly worse than league 1. We’re a week away from our first game and I just hope DC can get the players he’s wants in. I do believe DC is well aware what’s needed but getting them in might be a different story. Selling our best strikers then getting relegated wouldn’t be a new thing for Rovers many of us have seen it before many times.

You've been on the sauce again, haven't you?! So, you don't want Devante Cole and criticise his "poor" goal record, but you do want Ryan Taylor. Deary me. It's a good job you don't want a "massive goalscorer" because Taylor has 6 goals in 67 appearances at this level.

Things are 'evolving' nicely and I forecast a top 6 finish

Seems like CM is the only area that's been upgraded over the summer. LB and ST currently weaker. We are going up.

The title of the thread is about "aspirations".
The minimum we should aspire to achieve this coming season is play offs.
Try believing and backing the lads rather than this negative bullshit.

As i posted we have sercombe, rodman, matthews and bennett who can all score goals so Someone who can hold the ball up like ellis is what we need. We cant get taylor because he was one of plymouths best players last season but someone like him would be nice. On wiki it says 39 app 9 goals so not sure where 6 goals comes from. Devante isnt even a realistic possibility,no way he will relocate from the north-west to play for rovers imo.

Where I'd like us to finish: 1st obs
Where we could finish with a decent new striker or two, our new signings gelling and no major injuries: playoffs
Where we're likely to finish with a few goals upfront/midfield but the same defensive frailties: mid table
Where we could end up with minimal spend on new strikers, new signings failing to gell, an air of doom and gloom over failed stadium/training ground plans leading to DC packing his bags: relegation scrap
All to play for then!

Personally I think we have strengthened the left back area with Holmes-Dennis and the whole defence of you include the effects that a defensive coach will have on them. I will reserve my judgment on the ST department until the window shuts because if DC gets the two additions that he wants, we could end up stronger there too.

We will be fine, I’m really looking forward to the new season. We are just one striker short of a picnic.

He had an injury and missed some games but their manager rates him highly. He always looks decent to me. On the 2 or 3 times ive seen cole and doidge they looked poor. Maybe i need to watch some youtube highlights so i can better judge a footballer?

So, not only can he not score goals but he also can't stay fit. Brilliant. Not a big fame of Doidge myself. Perhaps you do need to watch a bit more football if a 6 goal in 67 injury prone striker is the best you can come up with. Ryan Taylor.

I said originally "someone like ryan taylor" meaning a decent player who can hold the ball up for our attacking midfield players. Someone of his type i other words.
