could be a blessing in disguise.
If we would’ve won 5-0 yesterday and Nichols got a hat trick (lol) everyone goes home happy DC happy but the problem would still be there come Saturday v Peterborough, now DC and the bod need to act and bring in the right players.
Lets see what happens before Saturday and hopefully DC can make the right signings 🙏

If there is a price set we should pay it. 2 good strikers please.

Doesnt sound difficult but you have a few teams also still looking for the exact same. Would you rather go to Sunderland and play at the Stadium of light or Rovers and play at the Mem? I can assure you that if we are looking for a striker with some experience and who can score at this level, Sunderland will also be looking at the same player.

What upset me yesterday was the pathetic defending for 3 of Exeter’s goals. We all knew losing Ellis would be a big loss upfront but at times he was also our best defender from opposition set pieces & it more than showed yesterday. The only positives to come out of the game was performances of the 4 new signings who will definitely be assets to the squad.

That's my interpretation of DC's interview yesterday. So whoever we end up getting in now probably wouldn't even get into Sunderland's reserve team.

On paper they might not, but we might unearth a Jem. Every transfer is a gamble for the club. I could not care less about them getting into the mackem's reserve team, what I care about is how they perform in our team. Everybody keep your nerve. I would rather have a crap outing in a friendly than a league game.

People want us to pay for a proven league 1 striker
We did that last summer, and now they want to get rid of him

What's new?
If its not a set-piece we usually fail to stop crosses coming in through normal play, and when they do come in fail to deal with them.
We have a group of defenders who are either too slow, too small, inexperienced or constantly injured.

We need a specialist Defensive Coach.

Any cross, be it a set piece or from open play, in to our box. Is likely to cause problems. Simply because none of our defenders attack the ball. Somebody like Bolger would be a godsend in our back four.

What I don’t get is all you hear from dc is gutted to concede from a set piece as they work hard on sorting out the problems with that on the training pitch... And their all still in consistent so that means new centre back that will be more stronger and taller and pop up with goals

Unless he decides to send TB out on loan (and the player accepts that decision) then DC can hardly bring in a third CH.

I don’t think craig was the answer...we need a big presence in the back line that chips in with goals... Hartley done that for us but defensively not good enough...but takes the pressure off the rest of team if we can be a handful at set pieces ourselves... Flint made a big difference to sh**ty and their struggle without him because of that

Flint made a big difference to sh**ty and their struggle without him because of that Hartley was useless in defence, Flint cost a fortune, so Craig must have been seen as the best option, I assume DC also felt Broadbent would progress to become a Flint type CH but for some reason that's not turned out to be the case so far.
