He is currently having a medical at Sunderland for a fee of £600,000 rising to £1,000,000. How the hell can we compete with figures like this? I suppose they have now lost interest in Doidge at Forest Green? ??

His scoring record for last 2 season is basically 1 in 2, yet fee is still peanuts in comparison to players being bought out of L2 with nothing to show from a higher level

Frightening. Near me Stoke have just paid 10 million plus for Tom Ince.Could have bought us a new training ground or two with that!!!!!!!!!! Stoke Chairman has certainly been generous over many years.Appreciate they will have parachute payments as well but what silly prices.

Two things I’ve learned from this:
1. Ellis Harrison was an absolute steal for Ipswich. Wyke has scored fewer goals than Ellis across the last 2 seasons in League One. I think we are making a habit of letting our assets go on the cheap.
2. DC has an impossible task of replacing Ellis with serious quality. We can’t compete with the big-hitters in this league with our relectance to spend proper money. I find it unbelievable that our biggest spend on a single player to date still occurred over 25 years ago, when we were playing in Bath. The longer we plod along at the ramshackle Mem, the longer we will tread water.

Although if we can't replace Harrison why did we let him go so cheaply? Accrington seems to playing a harder ball game with Ipswich over Kayden Jackson.

Scored 4 against us over the 2 games last season! Edit: I know that wasn't particularly difficult.

Agree with point 2, but on 1 Wyke scored 22 in 59 L1 games since signing for £250k (which makes the fee received seem even lower given bought from L2 Carlisle) whilst Ellis has scored 20 in 81 over past 2 seasons. Based on this we have done way better than Bradford, as only 1 year age difference and Wyke has a far superior record. Still think we ashould have got around £1.5mil up front given the likes of McNulty going for that from Cov....

Rumour and supposition perhaps but no real evidence that they are. In the end, if it happens, it will be undisclosed anyway and then everyone can pretend to be right! 😉 UTG!

Is Jackson out of contract next summer?

He is one of those players who rips up the Championship but never quite excels in the Premier league.
Too much money in football these days, cant wait for it to all implode

Apparently so: www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kayden-jackson/profil/spieler/378872Also seems to have just had the one good season in league football, unlike Harrison who seems to have been getting better in each of his last 4 seasons. If we did only get £750K he was a steal.

I've seen plenty of players who have gone for big money off the back of one good season which makes it more annoying how little we got for Bodin and Taylor.
Take the lad McNulty, failed in L1 twice before, has one decent season in L2 then gets snapped up by a Championship club for over a million. Crazy.
Lesson is to make sure your better players, or potentially your better players, are tied down.

Further evidence that we didn't do so badly when it comes to Ellis' fee.

another example of how we keep letting our top assets go for peanuts and other clubs holding out for better deals.
I appreciate we're not man united and we need to sell to keep going but its how we always let them go for * all the time that annoys me and yet we see club after club get much better deals for less talented players.
Bodin - under a million, how many wingers score 20+ goals and get let go for less than 1 million +?
Lambert - 1 million! Absolute joke that was, he single handily took saints to the prem!! should of got 3million + for him if not more with add-ons.
two examples of how poorly we're ran from the top and I could carry on all day!
fair play to Bradford for getting a half decent deal on a very average player.

By holding a gun to their head until they sign the contract?

So Bradford got a half decent deal but we sold ourselves short...? I'd sooner have Wyke than Ellis in my team in this league.
