Whilst he seems to be rated by Cardiff fans, I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed by this if it does come off.
That said, if he does pull on the famous blue and white quarters then he will get my full backing and support.
I just Wael and co. would support DC as if this signing is true, it does appear to be a scraping the bottom of the barrel signing after I assume many others were priced out of our league.

If this lad comes in surely we have to be trying sign Devante Cole, Doige or another on the long list. I will be very surprised and happy if we spend any money on players this year with Hani controlling the cheque book

You would hope so but I get the feeling, if this rumour is correct, that we have exhausted other options and we are right down the bottom of the list already. We must surely have the most inexperienced strike force in the league. If we were to spend a bit of money this window on a proven goal scorer, we could be a force this season. We look a soft touch at both ends going into Saturday.

Seems like he is rated by the CCFC fans. Some of them reckon he's good enough to go on loan in The Championship. I guess there's no recognition better than fans of his own club. Not one of them had a bad word for him, really. Their fans comments are pretty encouraging imo yet he's already been written off as the last name on DC'S list & scraping the bottom of the barrel on here. Not even signed & already he's not for us what a joyful place this forum is

If he's the 2nd number 9 not the main one then I will be ok with it. If he's Ellis's replacement though then massive disappointment. It's great going into a season full of hope and expectation... This is pretty much how I'm looking at it, too. Hoping this chap will be Gaffney's replacement rather than Ellis'. It does look like Cardiff fans rate him though at least!

If we get it wrong and end up with another non-scoring, rabbit in the headlights striker, we’ll be in for a torrid season. We look very limited and inexperienced up front.

I do not know enough about Rhys so have no idea if he will be a success or not. However so far the it appears we are unwilling to spend money on a good striker so an immediate attitude change at senior level within the club is needed. Cole is available for a permanent deal (I understand he is not available for loan) I suggest the club stops pussyfooting around and tomorrow go back to Wigan make him our fourth signing and a permanent one at that. Prices to watch the Rovers have gone up, the last thing season ticket holders need to hear is a senior member of staff sitting in front of a camera whinging about how tough the market is, a good player is available go out and get him. Dead easy just like that!

I don't disagree with that but my point is the window doesn't close until next Weds & even then we still have the loan option, then a name gets mentioned & he's not good enough - why all the hysteria ? Steve Hamer in his email said we were working on 2 replacements for Ellis & yet judging by this forum you'd have thought the window was shut & we had signed nobody.

With the reported releuctance to spend proper money, I don’t see this singing being followed up with anything more exciting. We’ve already been told that there won’t be a ‘marquee’ signing. I guess others were still hopeful, like me, that we were playing a few mind games and something more substantial was in the pipeline. It seems DC was being completely honest.

I realise I'll get lambasted for this but: 1 He isn't here yet 2 If he does come he is highly thought of by his own club 3 The transfer window has closed yet 4 We have made some good signings this Summer, all permanent moves, albeit in areas other than up front. 5 We haven't actually played a competitive game yet.

But we've banked at least £750K from the sales of our two strikers and look like getting a loan player in with v. limited Div 1 experience to replace one of them who, should he turn out to be a good signing, will return to his parent club in January or next summer, how is that evolution. Whilst poster like you accept the situation we'll keep on getting taken for mugs by our owners, who've somehow turned into Nick Higgs and have now stopped any noticeable spending on the club.

An underwhelming signing, just like Taylor, Bodin and Gaffney all were at the time The difference being they were all permanent signings with a commitment to Bristol Rovers - not someone else's player who we'll be expected to give game time to and who could well be going back in January. I'll stick with a totally underwhelming signing - not even Poundland and going on DC's past history with loan signings - Telford, McBurnie, Roberts et al we won't be seeing much of him.

Wael is a football man, surely he can see that we need some strikers that can actually score goals. FFS, i am actually fearing we have no goals in us at the moment.

Rory Gaffney... permanent signing... Even Billy Bodin signed a short term contract until October? when he signed

Not even close to the calibre of signing needed to replace Ellis. We got money for Ellis and Gaffney and it seems the owners are totally unwilling to dip into those funds.
As others have said, if this is the lesser of two signings, then ok. But if this is our main replacement then blimey, that’s a disappointment.

I'm surprised, the only thing that hasn't been mentioned is for Lord William Tubb to get his boots back on

Work with a couple of Cardiff City season ticket holders who only had positive words to say about him. Apparently he was looking good in the championship before getting unlucky with injuries. They both thought it would be either a permanent deal or a loan with a view to make it permanent.
I quite like signing players that are under the radar with a point to prove personally(Bodin, Taylor et al). Lets get behind the lad (if the rumours are true).
However i do hope this is the 1st of two signings.... With the second being a more traditional number 9.

Reilly was a replacement for Gaffney by the sounds of it. This player sounds like a replacement for Telford, who was also on loan. Which would love us needing a replacement for Ellis.
