I’m surprised at this. While neither Smith nor Slocombe fill me with a great deal of confidence I believe Slocombe to be marginally better. Hopefully, like others have said, we have a higher quality keeper on his way.

I suppose the next question is....
Will he actually be coming back?

Only a one week emergency loan so I imagine Andre will be on the bench tonight and we won’t be looking for a replacement.

Hopefully there'll be a financial reward for us, no matter how small.

This seems a good move for both sides, we really need a better goalie and Slocombe gets to move back to Lincs. Just hope we do sign somebody better and he's match fit!

I think Slocombe is being treated a bit harshly on here. Average might be the term for him but he is average at worst, we've had a lot worse keepers in the last few years. Looking at I Voted for Kodos's player ratings, he was on average the 5th best player for us last season as voted by our fans, so he's not been too bad has he really? gaschat.co.uk/thread/10831/player-ratings-season-statistics-2017

If smith gets injured before we either get Sam back or another in we’ll be seeing junior again, not that he did anything wrong last time in fact he played very well.

If longer than a week, we must have a replacement in pipeline. Surely!

I was surprised and disappointed we didn't look at the keeper position in the summer. We have two average keepers and what we should have is 1 quality one and 1 rubbish one for emergencies. I would hope DC is looking to bring in Lumley and ship Slocombe and Smith out on loan as neither seem good enough if we want to trouble the top 6. In fact goal keeper is the only position I am happy about using the loan market for as we have a decent recent history of getting good up and coming players: Lumley, Logan, Etheridge etc. Payne was a good signing, if we make efforts to improve the goalkeeper I'll start to believe we are serious about competing this season. I think you may have more missed a few god awful loan keepers between Logan/Etheridge and Lumley We've had a couple of rotters but on the whole have had some very good keepers in on loan, unless I am being selective with my memory I can't remember any top quality outfield players we have had in on loan in recent times. 99.9% have been average at best and I'm only leaving that 0.01% in case I've missed someone!

Sweeney was decent. The best player we had on loan, on reflection, was probably Oliver Mcburnie, who is standing out in the Championship. He only played a handful of games for us though. Given the chance, he could have been lethal for us I reckon.

Disappointed with this, thought he was the best keeper on our books.

Seems bizarre to me , in my opinion slocombe is the better keeper out of the two. Who knows there may be another gk on their way , then again there might not be !

Very surprised with that! Surely another keeper must be on the way?
