Reading his Wiki doesn’t fill me with any confidence at all, but willing to give him a chance.
If this doesn’t come off then we really have to question the HoR and possibly get rid of him.

Would have hoped for someone more experienced. A 'rookie' at league level. Will Puddy is a free agent I think!!!!!!

Is it me or are we the only club who seems to consistently have problems with permanent GKs? Better off using the loan market if our idea of permanent keepers are Smith and Slocombe. But even then our recruitment all over the pitch has been water poor this close season and ironically this comes after appointing a head of recruitment. Nobody gives a sh** at the club anymore and I feel we are heading down the same slope that Trollope went down, a few seasons of stability at league one level and then journeymen/has-beens/never-weres start being signed on the cheap and we start sleep walking into relegation.

Problem under Trolls/Lennie, they were hardly signed on the cheap - big wages & long contracts were a killer for us.

Yeah thats a fair point, but you see what I mean- Bakayoko would not have been on DCs radar in the conference when we wanted hungry players with a good attitude, now we are willing to pay 150k for his type? We have gone wrong somewhere over the past few seasons and it is par for the course to be fair. If you look at league one only Walsall and Oldham have been able to tread water long term in this division. With 3 up and 4 down you are going to get promoted or relegated sooner or later.

Damn that is a fall from grace. Good luck to him, not good enough for us but would have thought he could do a bit better than that.

It is worrying when we sign a third choice goalkeeper from a club who have signed two EFL 1 goalkeepers who are ranked ahead of him. This young guy is on a hiding to nothing playing in front of our back line. Only Bristol Rovers can loan out our No 1 keeper and replace him with a young keeper still learning his trade - absolutely bizarre.

Hard to argue with that, but then I do get the feeling that at this level there aren't many of these super young hungry players anymore. In the conference players know if they don't make it that they might not find another club. In L1 all the regulars will usually end up at another L1 club or MAYBE even drop down a division but that can be unlikely. It's the same in most of the professional divisions unfortunately

Colkett being the biggest culprit I think in recent times

Looking at Carlisle’s results from last year it seems like a hot and cold prospect. During the first part of the season at least they were either winning with a clean sheet or conceding 2+ goals a game.
He’s only 24, so that doesn’t surprise me majorly. A strange (potentially worrying) one as Adam Smith is also that kind of player. Slocombe was more consistent, but still not good enough.
Hope he can come good and find some consistency here. UTG!

Colkett being the biggest culprit I think in recent times Yep, I agree. I can honestly say that when in the conference, I haven't ever seen teams work so hard game in game out. I think that reflected in our L2 season too - most opposing fans came out of the game saying "whilst Rovers weren't spectacular, they were the hardest working team I've seen"

Seems mixed opinions on him from Carlisle fans. The only question I have is why did a team in the league below not want to keep hold of him? Who says they didn't??

Have not seen him play but descriptions by Carlisle fans seem to suggest he has similar attributes to our current keeper. I guess the competition between the two will be healthy

That one from Derby, Roo's? wasn't any better than what we had too. I don't think Chapman was with us long enough to know if he was any good or not! I've just noticed that Aaron Chapman is Peterborough's number one keeper this season and was Accringtons number one last season so you might as well add him to the list of decent loan keepers we had! Assume he recovered from the ankle problems which I think made clubs a little worried about signing him. Clearly, although he was rated by the fans here, he did not do enough to convince DC.

Reading the fans forum, most fans at Carlyle seem to think he had a poor start last season but improved with coaching and then formed dipped towards end of last season. Most seem to think he has potential, good stopper but prone to error and slow on distribution. Most would have welcomed him back this year but questions about whether her was good enough for a league 2 promotion team.
Sounds a bit like Smith but might improve with coaching and game time. Seems to have improved somewhat from when we were last looking to sign him on loan.
Hard to get excited about IMO.

Smiths not good enough, so this chap needs to be better than smith and after all I’ve read it doesn’t sound like he is! We needed experience and a calm head and not a rookie! I’ll wait til I see him in the flesh to judge properly but not excited by this one bit and it sounds like another piece of bad business!

Blimey, let’s give him a chance. He hasn’t played yet. I remember the negative posts on here when we signed Lumley. Come on gasheads let’s get behind him. When we’re doing well and doing ok in mid table it’s easy to support the players. Now we are near the foot we need to support the team, DC and the players even more. Welcome to Rovers Jack, we hope you do well. UTG!

Let’s give the kid a chance, no one knew who joe Lumley was, and remember a meltdown on here when he signed on loan. We have got through some keepers let’s hope he does well.
