Yeah thats a fair point, but you see what I mean- Bakayoko would not have been on DCs radar in the conference when we wanted hungry players with a good attitude, now we are willing to pay 150k for his type? We have gone wrong somewhere over the past few seasons and it is par for the course to be fair. If you look at league one only Walsall and Oldham have been able to tread water long term in this division. With 3 up and 4 down you are going to get promoted or relegated sooner or later. Hard to argue with that, but then I do get the feeling that at this level there aren't many of these super young hungry players anymore. In the conference players know if they don't make it that they might not find another club. In L1 all the regulars will usually end up at another L1 club or MAYBE even drop down a division but that can be unlikely. It's the same in most of the professional divisions unfortunately I assume this is what the development squad is for. How long has this been in place ? I would certainly think we should be expecting 1 or 2 to become a regular first team squad members by the end of the season. I don't know how long we give them, it's nice having a development squad but you need to get a good return at some point.

49 appearances with 12 clean sheets last season seems reasonable enough to me

My first Rovers Goalies were Howard Radford and Ron Nicholls. Now they were good. Bernard Hall was custodian when I started watching. Bernard Hall Personal information Full name Bernard Raymond E. Hall Date of birth 8 July 1942 (age 76) Place of birth Bath, England Height 5 ft 10 in (1.78 m) Playing position Goalkeeper Hall was born in Bath, and played for Twerton Youth Club before joining Bristol Rovers as a junior in 1958. A year later he turned professional at the age of seventeen, but it was a further three and a half years before he finally made his League debut, on 20 April 1962 against Charlton Athletic. He finally established himself as first choice between the sticks after the then incumbent 'keeper Esmond Million received a lifetime ban from football in 1963 for accepting a bribe to throw a game against Bradford Park Avenue.[1] Following the Million scandal, Hall then played in Rovers' next 134 consecutive games in all competitions. In total he played 163 League games for Rovers before having his career prematurely ended on 31 December 1966 at the age of 24. On that day he challenged Middlesbrough forward John O'Rourke for the ball, but the pair collided so severely that it knocked Hall out and left him in a coma in Frenchay Hospital for sixteen days. Although he recovered from this incident sufficiently to live a normal life, he was unable to resume his football career. He later took as job as the groundsman of the Imperial Sports Ground in Knowle, Bristol.

His contract runs out at Brentford at the end of the season, so I'm guessing this has the potential to be a permanent.

Puddy is at Chippenham and out injured for 4 months. It is worrying when we sign a third choice goalkeeper from a club who have signed two EFL 1 goalkeepers who are ranked ahead of him. This young guy is on a hiding to nothing playing in front of our back line. Only Bristol Rovers can loan out our No 1 keeper and replace him with a young keeper still learning his trade - absolutely bizarre. Really does make you think what is Tommy Widdrington being paid to do?

You wouldn’t expect a championship club to loan out their no.1 or no.2 goalkeeper would you so a no.3 seems reasonable to me

If Bonham is solid at the back perhaps we'll start climbing the stairway to heaven!
