I don't have an email contact for anyone at the club and I've tried several times to get one without success. It's pointless to keep trying. The free agents available in this country should be well known to the management and I'm sure they are. Others on here have emailed Tom Gorringe but surely Tommy.widdrington@bristolrovers.co.uk must be close mate Try the old fashioned way and send a letter in the post

I wish I was a football manager like most on here, but I'm not. Here's my take on it. Partington in the holding midfield and Sercombe in the creative midfield should start to balance things up a bit. Then all we've got to do is get a goal scorer. But there's no sign of Parts returning, plus he was cr@p their last season, and Sercs is probably out another 4 to 6 weeks, not that we'll get an update but probably everybody in the game will know! Without doubt Lines and Sercombe are massive players for us in being creative and scoring from midfield - hopefully they will be back in the team soon. Didnt O. Clarke win the penalty yesterday

The best we’ve got. Let’s be honest we’ve created next to nothing so far this season, but what we have seems to have been with Linesy has played. I’m not saying Nichols WILL score, in fact someone else should get a chance imo, but I still maintain the best teams have quality centre midfielders that make the team tick. UTG I'm not really disagreeing with you, it's really hard to know what our problems are. We are weak at the back, from keeper forward. That's a given. The midfield should in theory be good enough but they have to compensate for such a poor back line. Then you have a front line that can't score so the midfield has to compensate for them too. It's a really difficult to know which to sort first, but for me the defence is our main problem. To my mind it's very easy to see what our problems are: we just do not have even the spine of a team. If we were in pre-season again we would be looking at replacing pretty much most of the squad knowing what we do now ideally because there are very few canny players in that lot who can 'do a Shrewsbury' and belie their lowly status in the game. In previous seasons where we have started slowly we had the likes of Taylor and Bodin to bail us out. We don't even have a marquee player any more to make the difference between winning the odd game in the run up to Christmas. DC is also not helping himself with his loyalty, if Reilly is not good enough to start then that speaks again of how DC is hopeless at signing players to compete at league one level. We seem to sign players just to sit on the bench and not have to rely on them, in fact I am pretty gutted I haven't been picked to be paid handsomely to never play like Reilly and Mensah are. I could sit on a bench just as well as they can!

Years ago pundits and managers used to talk about the importance of strength down the middle...if you have a good goalkeeper, good central defender, a good central midfield general, and a centre forward (4 players) then you could carry a few journeymen in the team.

Bonham has played once, Lockyer had missed games and we are constantly told he needs a senior player next to him, Sercs has missed 3 games and has been played out wide and Nichols has been here for 40 odd games? How is that selective?

well said,if he’s so good at his job he should be progressing not moaning all the time about crap Get on with it we’re not Man City In the real world you can't live on past success - I may have got employee of the year 2 times in a row but if I stop doing my job well, moan about my employers, lack of a pay rise, change in bonus and targeting conditions, no new desk, no new computer, no new office, and churn out bad work then my boss is rightly going to say "wtf is going on" and "sort it out or you are out" not "oh he's been good in the past just let him get on with it, he will turn it around!" Ffs! Jesus, since when has football been ‘the real world? Certainly not nowadays and as for ‘your job’ etc, there are plenty in the real world who get by on the backs of others quite well. I have worked with plenty and still do when they should be sent up the road. Pathetic.

How is that selective? Because you’ve chosen the worst performing players, we have 4 others who play week in and out in the centre of the pitch too. Smith and Nichols will hopefully not get many starts from now on and Locks, Bonham and Sercs will form the spine of the team when they are all available to play.

Yes it's true that I selected players that play down the middle. Were we not referring to the spine of the team? I'm tired today so maybe I got the wrong end of the stick. For the record I hope that Bonham does well, that Lockyer comes back into form, that Sercs comes in to center midfield and Nichols doesn't keep starting games.

Ok DC had success, with a team that was mainly young and wanted success. He has replaced that team with Upson, (MK Dons and no one else wanted him). Craig (Good player on the ground but not good in the air, or chasing a fast winger). Nicholls (nothing like Taylor or Bodin, ) and so on. That's the first thing secondly he still hasn't really addressed the problem of a leaky defence. And where he used to give young players ago he now buys in "experienced" as in a second division full back
