However, before the lurkers from OTIB get themselves excited, with Bristol being the 8th largest city in England, and well healed to boot, the support for both teams is water poor.
I wouldn't say its water poor. Bristol is a 2 team City. If you add up both clubs average attendances it equates to about 30,000. Which is similar to what Leeds average, which only have the one club in the City. Would you say their support is water poor? Only Villa average more than 30,000 in The Championship. I will concede that the combined total of the two clubs is at a 30+ year high (although we only account for 31% of that).
Perhaps I should rephrase. Given Bristol is ranked the 8th most populous city in England and Wales, it is disappointing that one club is (on average) only 39th best supported and the other is 54th in the four top leagues.

But again, if Bristol only had 1 club it would be a lot higher. 30,000 would put us at about 18th. When you consider the big London clubs, Villa in Birmingham, the 2 Manchester clubs, the 2 Liverpool clubs, 2 Sheffield clubs its about right. Plus Rovers and City have pretty much always been sh*t.
