Who is this Roy Walker legend as advertised on the website?
Good to know Kelly is a midfielder as well.

Your just as bad they've referred to him as Ray not Roy Walker! Don't it Ray Mabbut or Richard Walker they meant to refer to?

Played 440 times for Port Vale between 1986 and 1997. Very pleased to receive a sticker of him, will fill a gap in my 1990 Panini album. Roy "say what you see" Walker never played for the Gas as far as I can tell.

More to the point, a couple of weeks ago this was touted as an exclusive season ticket holder benefit - what's it doing on sale in the match day programme if it's a season ticket holder's perk?

For anyone in the dark, this stems from a piece on the Gas website www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2018/october/04.10.18-programme-wfc/The latest edition of 'The Pirate' will be on sale around the ground on Saturday afternoon, along with a sticker poster pullout and two player stickers to start your collection off! Filled with all the usual articles and features - Saturday's edition boasts eighty-two pages of content. With this you will also receive an official Rovers sticker poster and two stickers to kick you off - Gas legend Ray Walker and current star Kyle Bennett! Season ticket holders can collect a poster separately for free if they wish from the club superstore, however stickers can only be acquired through the purchase of a programme. Inside the programme, supporters can read an exclusive interview with Michael Kelly - as the defender talks about how he's taken to life in the first team so far this season. Look out for the programme on sale in a variety of locations at the Mem - priced at just £3. To buy a programme online please click HERE.

Not quite true. I don't know what was communicated to ST holders (maybe you could find it?) but this has always been designed for kids really, and to be a little add on for people who buy a programme. Plus of course it ties in with the trend for collecting things / sticker charts. The article on the website does clearly state that "Season ticket holders can collect a poster separately for free if they wish from the club superstore, however stickers can only be acquired through the purchase of a programme", so the benefit for a ST holder is that unlike your average punter they can get a free poster. I contribute two pages for each League programme - one of my own, and I also write the BRFPA page. I've not had anything to do with the poster / stickers though.

This is hard to word without accidentally sounding snippy but I guess you have a problem with the lack of words like 'exclusive'. Your original post was not correct because BRFC never said it was exclusive to you. I was there when they mentioned this idea to programme contributors and it was clearly meant for programme buyers. ST holders have been offered a copy as a perk. Your email clearly doesn't say it is exclusive to ST holders. You can get EXACTLY what your email offered you by walking in the shop, showing your card and asking for your free sticker poster.

It is touted as a benefit to which I, as a season ticket holder, am entitled. If the fact is that it is not by virtue of my status as a season ticket holder that I can obtain the poster it isn't a benefit of being a season ticket holder is it? In the same way that the pasty meal deal is not a benefit of being a season ticket holder. Since the poster is free with the programme which must be purchased in order to also obtain the stickers, there is absolutely no benefit to being a season ticket holder at all is there? This was advertised as a benefit of being a season ticket holder - it isn't. That is completely irrefutable.

Your issue there was very clearly that it wasn't exclusive. The email never said it was. Now you're changing your unhappiness to it not being a very good perk. The poster has been mentioned before in the programme. It was very very clearly never designed to be mainly something for ST holders. It's just a tiny bullet point to pad out the benefits of being a ST, which as we know are mainly cheap prices & cat 1 for tkts. You get a free poster as a ST holder. It's very simple. If you don't want it, don't take it. Loads of people buy the programme and love it. If you fancy buying it please do.

That's weird though innit, cause if you claim your free poster, you then have to buy the programme to get the stickers, then you have 2 posters and 1 lot of stickers....

I'm maintaining that it is not a perk at all; in the same way that soap and toilet roll in the toilets are not a perk of buying a season ticket. Whether or not I want it and whether or not people like the programme is completely immaterial to the issue of it being advertised as a benefit to season ticket holders - it was - and whether it is in fact a benefit - it isn't. You don't need to obtain a free one as a season ticket holder. It is already free with the programme. There is no additional cost of the poster to anyone purchasing the programme. The programme must be purchased in any case to obtain the stickers which are a component of the poster.
