Good idea Gassy, maybe we should all be texting and tweeting the station, Hadwin and Twentyman...

Here's an idea Radio Bristol - you have Steve Hamer on every other week commentating. In fact he'll be commentating on Saturday. Why doesn't someone ask him what the update is on the training ground? I expect he doesn’t know either

Don't ask, you don't get an answer.
It would be good to at least see him on the spot

"We’ll move in March [2017]” to new training ground says @official_BRFC chairman. bristolroverssc.co.uk/2016/09/08/having-a-gas-6/Seriously though, the last I heard was the Al-Qadi interview back in August. The training ground – what’s happening? Darrell told me the other week that it’s very weedy, I’ve seen pictures of it and it’s nowhere near ready. Again, I’m very frustrated about this, about the training ground. It will happen and if it doesn’t happen in time for next season, or next April, when our current venue’s rent ends, we will provide a temporary solution for the team to have a very good training facility. As a temporary solution until our training ground is up and running. You appointed Evan Jones Chartered Surveyors to deliver this, what are they doing? As project managers. It’s a process and it’s complicated from different angles. I can assure you it will happen and, like I said, because the training pitches have to be started very soon otherwise you’ll miss the window over the winter, unless we start very soon we’re going to miss that and if that happens, we will provide a temporary solution for a training ground. Where will that be? Again, I can’t go into that because of talks. It’s close by but again, its not a done deal. That’s what we’re looking at. To quote Darrell, he said some people need to get their fingers out over the training ground. It’s frustrating him. It’s frustrating me too. Like I said, we have to move on this very quickly. www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/full-wael-al-qadi-transcript-1889017All back on Gaschatters. Saw this chap down there, must have been cutting the weeds back. Said he’s come for Daryl, wouldn’t let it go. Awful breath. Might of been Holloway. Attachment Deleted

Blimey, you’ve got a new shop, a refurbished bar and Sausage rolls the size of a Chippendales dick, now you are asking for somewhere to train. Always want, want, want. I normally enjoy those sausage rolls Don’t think I’ll bother now. Cheers.

Drive down Hortham lane the other day, the grass have grown about 5ft tall and the portocabin in the middle looks like something out of a horror movie.
Evolution eh!

In the over all scheme of things eg: us sliding down the table, DC looking like he's ready to jump, no takeover on the horizon for definite, does anyone give a sh** if the training ground is shelved for a couple of years, whilst we get everything else sorted ?

We turn up for 90 minutes on a Saturday, so the fans see us maybe once every two weeks, for 90 minutes for a home game, but the work is on the training pitch."

I know what he said, but the reality is that a good squad of players could train at Bristol Uni, UWE, Bath Uni etc and deliver on the pitch. At league One level, a player who doesn't earn a fortune will come if he's going to get some success, and the best wage available. Training at excellent rented facilities or owned facilities means jackshit to him so log as he has the same standard at both.

I think your points about success and money are true but training at good facilities is important too. I’ve played for clubs that train in a park on an uneven surface with no equipment and I’ve played for clubs with great facilities like my current club and it makes such a difference to how you can go about it in a more professional manner.

Agree with you mate but I mean facilities of equal standard makes no difference if hired or owned, except that a skint club then has the capital to try and put things right on the pitch, which in turn (if it works) gets more people through the turnstiles. A stonking training facility would be great but not at the expense of our league One status imho.

DC has also stressed the importance of having all the players training in one place. "We've got the Under-21s training on the council patch and we've got the youth team training on a facility that's under water now. We've got to pull it all together."

Whether this is down to the project being over budget, planning reasons or a better alternative I don't know but it's now very unlikely we will see a training ground on the site at all. The person I feel for most is Darell as he's been promised a new place of work and had even been asked for his requirements for the new training base only to be let down once again and now facing the prospect of using a training ground that has even less facilities than we do now for next season and beyond(if that is at all possible).
