Well I'm offended by it. Should I have left? Should I have just 'got on with it'? I'll tell you this mate. Not only is your statement inflammatory it also shows a real lack of intellect and awareness about cultural history. If you're not trolling and I bloody well hope you are then I suggest you ask victims of racism how they feel about being racially abused. Then come back and say your piece. No I'm not trolling. Just have a different opinion to the majority who obviously like to be politically correct. It's not politically correct, its ACTUALLY correct. Wtf is the matter with you GGMI? Will you still defend these tossers if we lose 3 points and end missing the top 5 or automatic promotion by a point?

To me it's know different that cinstantly calling a keeper a fat bastard. Abuse is abuse, racism or not.

Who's in charge of stewarding at the Mem? We should all let him/her know how offended we are by this and ask for them to review their procedures to ensure that this is not tolerated and any sign of racial (or any other exceptional) abuse is acted on promptly. One steward can't act alone for the reasons stated above, but they have to have a plan of action when this sort of thing happens - otherwise what's the point of them being there?

At the end of the day its up to all of us to ensure an atmosphere of zero tolerance with incidents such as this. I have to admit last night I didn't act immediately because the guys in question were very intimidating.( I'm sure the steward found it the same - although that's what he's there for) Eventually though I did go over to him and urge him to do something. By then others were joining in. One guy told me the steward had actually been laughing at them! To be fair I think he was totally out of his depth but thats no excuse.

Weight was just an example. What about someone's height then or if someone called them ugly? I'm sorry but the racism card is overplayed.

Yes, its over played when someone uses it as an excuse and that's shameful and is a disservice to the black and ethnic community because it gives uneducated people the opportunity to throw the race card back when actual racism and a racist abuse occurs.

Racism is a crime.
You cannot blame the victim of a crime for it.
We'll have to agree to disagree.

To me it's know different that cinstantly calling a keeper a fat bastard. Abuse is abuse, racism or not. Racism is different because: in the history of our troubled world, there was a time in the not-so-distant past when black people were legally no more than the commodities of people like Mr Colston. They were abducted, sold and worked for profit entirely on the basis that they were not entitled to the same rights as white people. Their inferior status in society (especially in the USA, which influences the world) continued long after slavery was abolished, into the 1960s, when, for example, they were denied employment on Bristol buses. When someone starts to use the abusive terminology of that historical time, they are attempting to place the black person whom they abuse back into that subservient category of society, purely on the basis of his colour. Where racism is concerned, the weight of history far outweighs insults regarding individual characteristics such as being fat or ugly. If we are to live together in a multi-racial society - and if we are to have football in which all of us can participate without being denied by prejudice and insults - then we have to treat racism much more seriously than the rest of the "traditional" abuse that fans give to opponents. It's about enabling everyone to take part.

It's about enabling everyone to take part. I actually think it is less offensive as it is not as personal as some things. To insult someone on there race is quite a general thing. Look I'm not saying it is right. Anybody shouting things which are seen as racial abuse should be thrown out, I just don't see how it is any worse than other insults and stick by that.

But hey ho carry on following the sheep.Don't cross the line you little....... Your opinion is stupid, outdated and invalid - period. You say it was wrong, but you argue he made a song and dance about it and should man up. Think about it, an illegal vile offence was committed, he reported it. But you think he shouldn't have complained. Ok, a gang of men abuse your GF while she's out doing some shopping. Do you report it? To be a better country we need people to stand up for what's right, and report horrible, stupid thugs that think they can do what they want because people like you let them get away with it.
People like you have allowed our social behaviour to get out of control.

That's different. You expect things at a football match and they should just be taking as a pinch of salt by the players. If a steward hears them though then yes they should be thrown out.
