Yes, I'm afraid that will now happen, especially as it has made the Press. It will be deserved, I'm afraid - any club can have nasty people in the crowd, but there seems to have been no serious attempt to take appropriate action, which is the club's fault. It' s not as if racism is a new phenomenon and took them by surprise.

It has since been confirmed by fan's around the idiot. I think we will be looking at further action definitely, maybe even a points deduction. A great result last night, we climb to our highest for the season, and it's ruined. Gutted for the Club, Players and Supporters. UTG

Who's in charge of stewarding at the Mem? We should all let him/her know how offended we are by this and ask for them to review their procedures to ensure that this is not tolerated and any sign of racial (or any other exceptional) abuse is acted on promptly. One steward can't act alone for the reasons stated above, but they have to have a plan of action when this sort of thing happens - otherwise what's the point of them being there? Dave Harper...he's in charge

Just sent this to David Harper and Ian Holtby:
Ian, David,
I feel extremely angry, upset, and let down by the reports of the racial abuse aimed at the Dartford Goalkeeper last night, and the inactivity of the Steward nearby.
I wonder how well trained and briefed the stewards are in dealing with incidents such as this? In my experience stewards at most grounds don't know how to react when anything happens, let alone disgraceful racial abuse. BRFC must address this and ensure stewards have a clear course of action to follow.
I understand that one steward can't act alone for reasons of personal safety and security, but there must be a well documented and practised course of action for them to follow when this sort of thing happens - otherwise what's the point of them being there?
Can you reassure me that this will be addressed urgently by a thorough review of procedures to ensure that this is not tolerated and any sign of racial (or any other exceptional) abuse results in appropriate prompt action when this sort of vile abuse occurs?
Apologies if you are not the correct people to address this issue. If this is the case, please could you pass this on to the appropriate person(s).
Thanks and Regards

Nothing from the club on the official site or on twitter.
We are in the last chance saloon as regards to receiving action against us due to consistent crowd problems.
The club needs to act quickly to take action otherwise I fear we can kiss goodbye to those 3 hard-earned points last night. Our reputation is being tarnished at the moment by idiotic so called supporters.

Bottom line is to ban them. But I have to comment on one posting by Markash who starts to delve into history and is always a source of annoyance to me.
The first slavers in reality were the black Africans themselves. They sold prisoners to our white slavers. So let's get history in context if you are going to quote it.
But back to the point. We also have black players in our team, so why a couple of arseh*les should choose to generalise and racially abuse another black player is beyond me. That said, I felt the keeper started to overplay his hand. All he had to do was call the ref over tell him what had happened and let him deal with it. Why give the idiots the oxygen of publicity?
I'm a Welshman, and you can't believe how many times that people have tried to use that against me. I treat it as a badge of honour. I'm proud of it and proud to be a Gashead. No way could anyone upset me with any insult, and I feel the keeper should treat being black as a badge of honour and not overplay it which I felt he did last night.

This is a very good post and is EXACTLY how I feel! Our fans who are guilty are indeed stupid and embarrassing even more so because we had two black players playing ourselves. But like you say I do think the keeper overplayed it. Glad someone can speak their own mind rather than feeling the need to go along with what is politically correct.

There is, rightly, a big campaign ongoing in football to eradicate racism. What good is that if incidents such as this go unreported? The easiest thing for the Dartford keeper to do would be to ignore it, and he deserves credit for bringing it to the attention of the referee and stewards. If we fail to act appropriately then as a club we are at best, naive as it is obvious that this will have consequences against us. Calling people sheep does you no credit, and is ironic as your argument itself is very predictable. To say that a player who is receiving racist abuse should just sit there and take it, and make nothing of it, does nothing to deal with the problem and just allows the problem to flourish again.

You've really got to drop that bullshit line of feeling the need to go along with something politically correct. I don't give a flying about political correctness, but the keeper had a right to point out the person who, let's not forget, has committed a crime. People saying that he is fine doing that is not political correctness, it's common bloody sense. If I was stood next to the bloke who said something racist, walked up to the steward and reported it, am I being politically correct or just doing what any single person should do? To be honest, if that makes me PC, I'll take it, I don't like the term but i believe that's the right thing to do. Shall we keep it that you think my view is PC and I think yours is idiotic?

I am actually stunned by this reaction of some people to this, being called tallshanks or a fat bastard (of which I am both being 6'5 and 18st and get called it regularly) is just not the same as being racially abused, or abused for your sexuality and how you cannot see that is just beyond me, it's not being PC or following the sheep as you put it, it's doing the right thing, in this day and age it's just plain ignorance or stupidity in my book.

If you don't know this then I suggest you do a bit of research as your arguments are coming across as more and more ignorant with every post.

I don't understand why racial abuse is put on a pedestal as being so much worse than other abuse.

Also what did people make of their number 14 sticking his middle finger up at our fans after the game? Thought a couple of their players were very unprofessional.
