It's probably been done before, but in an attempt to move away from the doom and gloom (even after a win FFS), hows about we be a bit more upbeat and name the best Rovers side you have seen in your time supporting them.
Just name your side in whatever formation you like, but maybe let us know the years spent watching the Gas at the same time.
My ball, so I'll start with...
1977-2018
Martyn.
Alexander, Yates, Mabbutt, Jones(c).
Walters, Holloway, D Williams, Barrett.
Hayles, Stewart.
Subs: Parkin, Tilson, Shore, Astafjevs, Penrice, Lambert, Randall.
Manager: Tough call between Gerry Francis and Darrell Clarke. Can't decide. Happy with either!

2005-2018
I am aware that my team will be useless compared to most but thought I’d give it a go anyway.
Mildenhall
Smudge Lockyer Elliot Brown
Bodin Disley Campbell Carayol
Lambert Taylor (sorry it had to be)
Lumley, Mcchrystal, Lescott, Lines, Hughes, Harrison, Hoskins
Goalkeeper was a tough choice as both Lumley and Bonham have probably been better keepers than Mildenhall but they only played a few games whereas Mildenhall had a good 2-3 years for us.

Looks a pretty bloody useful team to me ! Yes I’m sure it’d still go well in League One now. I just mean I’m a few years late to have seen players like Tilson, Astafjevs, Walters, Stewart who by all accounts were class. I think it has highlighted to me how poor we were in the wide areas in the Trollope era, both fullbacks and wingers.

Of those I've seen - Guess Bradford, Biggs, Jarman etc would be a given.

Nigel Martyn Neil Slatter Larry Lloyd Steve Elliot Terry Cooper
Vitalis Astafjevs Ian Holloway David Williams Ray Graydon
Rickie Lambert Jason Roberts
Terry Cooper was a class apart during his stay with us. World Cup winner Alan Ball another to remember as he came to the end of his career.

Good thread but sadly makes you realise how much brfc have underachived over the years, we really should be up along sides like swansea, norwich etc, no other city this size could provide such a lack of success from BOTH bristol teams.

Great idea, think we did a few years ago so at the risk of looking an idiot (mine might be different from then) and I can’t be assed to check what I said. From 1966-2018 this 11. Some great players missed out but from pure enjoyment and players who loved the shirt. GK. Nigel Martin RB. Ian Alexander LB. Lindsay Parsons CH. Stuart Taylor CH Steve Elliot MDF Harold Jarman MDF Frankie Prince MDF David Williams MDF Ian Holloway CF. Alan Warboys CF. Bruce Bannister Subs. Alfie Biggs, Craig Disley, Mark McCrystal, Rick Shepherd, Mike Barrett

It makes you wonder had we have got promoted in our heydey in the 50's with Bradford and Biggs et al, when we were one of the best sides in what is now The Championship, finishing above Liverpool etc, getting crowds of 30,000, how we would of fared since, who knows? If Play Offs were invented then we probably would of gone up, our fortunes may have been very different. Likewise the team of 99/00 should of got promoted and if we had I'm sure we could of kept hold of Roberts and Cureton and had the momentum to get back to back promotions, we all know what happened after. Unfortunately we're probably the worst run club from a top 10 city anywhere in the World.

Oddly enough we've enjoyed reasonable success in past few years (this season excluded) but not many from the current era featuring
Any team with Jason Roberts in it for me , ,!
And Walters was different class even in his twilight
