I don't know if this has been done before, but I'm curious to know how many Rovers fans on here who are like myself not born and bred Bristolians . I come from the Bradford on Avon area and I became a Gashead when my Spurs supporting Dad took me to Eastville to watch Rovers v Fulham who had Best , Moore and Marsh playing for them . I was hooked and then it was even better for me personally when we started playing at fortress Twerton , just a 20 minute train journey for me and my mates who I got into supporting the Gas to . Most people I know from my home area support the obvious big clubs . So if you're a non Bristolian Gashead how did you get into supporting Rovers ?

From just outside Bath.
Fairly obvious how I ended up a Gashead I suppose.

I am born in Notts and still live in Notts.
First started watching the Rovers by going to see family friend Craig Disley play and never looked back.

Born in Australia, grew up in East Anglia, moved to Bristol when I was 11. Driving down the M32, I was in the passenger seat of a truck with all of our belongings in the back and saw Eastville on the way to our new house. Rovers didn't even play there any more but the floodlights were still there and that was the moment. Started school, picked the gas, never regretted it.

Born and bred in Bath, my Dad took me to watch Rovers at Eastville, and so it began.

Can we include NobbyGas on this thread because he always told me he was "not of this earth" ?

Born in Wiltshire but up until 12 lived in the north west.
My dad is a lifelong Bristol born gashead and took me and my brothers to loads of away games and I loved it. I still have my first (tiny) Rovers shirt.
Most kids supported Liverpool or Man Utd, but that never interested me and I liked supporting a different club, especially as it was always a family day out.
Blackpool away and Tranmere at Wembley as a 9 year old in 1990 were amazing experiences!
Then moved to Bristol while we were still at Twerton but not been in Bristol for 13 years now.
Always get to games when I can and listen to commentary when I can't.

I know and have known a few non Bristolian GasHeads.
I still find it amusing someone talking about players or the club with a different accent to West Country, and getting just as passionate about the quarters as myself.
Think you'll find John Keyes isn't Bristolian.

Lived near Bath and a mate took me to Twerton, that was it! Bloody annoying now, as it's such a long drive!

Whilst I am a Bristolian, moved away to Devon at a very young age. Grew up supporting ECFC, but there was never any passion, saw my first Rovers game whilst still at school in Devon, saved all my dinner money for many weeks to see Rovers v Chelsea on a weekday (snook off from school, no one ever found out.) Caught train to Templemeads, and was escorted with hundreds of Chelsea supporters, can't remember the score and was about late 70s. Then when I moved to Bristol at 19, found my brother supported the Gas, even though my dear old dad played for the City. So, thought I might as well remain a dissapointment to my dad, and watched Rovers ever since.

Bath born and bred - used to watch bath city one week and rovers the next with my Dad. When rovers moved home we just travelled that bit further. The atmosphere , the shirt and “Irene” won my heart over little old Bath. I haven’t watched Bath City much over the last x amount of years as the fixtures always used to fall brilliantly but now not so much. Probably started in 93/94 and we haven’t missed many since 25 years later! Must admit we are struggling with the gas over the last year or so - something has changed for the worse with the club and I have thought about watching Bath City more again but we probably won’t.

Left Bristol at very young age and never lived there since but visited and Grandad took me and sat me on the fence by the hare track for the dogs in the south enclosure whilst he was with his mates. I seem to remember he sat me outside the True Blue Club (?) whilst he went in for a drink. Most of childhood spent in Taunton and easy to travel up. Later settled on south coast due to work but always travelled all over to see us. First away match I think was City in Cup Jan ‘68, first home 1966. UTG!
