The price of football also has a section about walsall where it puts rovers average wage at £4k per week just behind millwall who still had players from their championship team on the wage bill! On footballers v fans website rovers playing wage average is listed at about 16th with £1,500 quoted as the average weekly wage which seems more realistic. Its a shame because price of football is an interesting site, for example the walsall section seems well researched and appears accurate. If we paid £1,500 on average then for a 1st team squad of 24 players that amounts to £1.87m but we seem to be paying at least double that, £3.75m, if our overall club wage bill was £5m? Our average could well be £3,000 with some players on £4,000? I dont think so myself,i know it sounds weird but dc told me himself that in our first league one season the playing wage bill was £2m a year but was a bit higher than that now[meaning last season]. At a development match I suppose the dc detractors paint the wages as higher and his supporters lower.

I assume you realise that the £5m wages figure is not some made up forum figure but the actual amount from the club accounts? Unless we're paying DC and his coaching staff a fortune in wages then the majority of that must have gone on DC's playing budget.

Possibly, bennett gave up a 3 year deal at pompey so he would surely be one of our highest earners. Pompey released Bennett I think you will find they allowed him to terminate his contract to sign for rovers. Paul cook gave him a 3 year deal but kenny jackett wasnt keen on him. No way he would have tore his contract up if rovers offer wasnt decent imo.

I assumed there was some deal done i.e. Pompey paid in him X, we paid him Z so he was no worse off hence why the deal dragged on/wasn't completed to after the window closed.

Shrewsbury don’t pay massive wages. I’d say Bennett and Locks could be our highest paid players but I’d guess they’d be on closer to £3k than £4k. Just completely guessing though.

No way he would have tore his contract up if rovers offer wasnt decent imo. But Pompey were happy to release him and KB was happy to leave as he wasn't getting game time. His interview even mentions how lack of game time would have hindered his future more and so it was time to find a new club. Not saying he's on peanuts but doubt he's close to 4K

So going back to "price of football" unless all the clubs figures are wrong were in the middle cluster of clubs.

I understand that these figures include all the backroom staff as well as the players, but do they also include all the senior people such as the Chairman and CEO?
Do all the directors take a salary? Does Wael?

But presumably you are making up the £3.75m figure for first team player wages. Don't forget that £5m must include things like catering staff, academy coaches and players, club shop staff, and so on.
I wouldn't know where to start in estimating how much the club pays non-first team staff.

Yep, made up but most clubs spend the majority of their wage budget on 1st team players wages, it must be somewhere between £3m-£4m unless we're the odd club out who manages to spend more on non players wages!

This is bollocks,BRFC turnover was £6.23 m in the year to 30th June 2017. Wasn't expenditure near £10m though? I know that’s on a variety of things not just wages. I don't know to be honest, but this is a thread about wages.Cant remember if the playing wage percentages from turnover figures is 55% or 60%.Whichever it is this persons calculations are nowhere near accurate.

Depends really - if you have a large academy or not, if you pay your board or not, if you run the stadium within the club or set up a seperate events company - these would all have an impact on how much of the overall wage bill goes on players.

We didn't have a particularly large Academy in 2017 we only paid SH on the Board and I can't imagine we employ that many staff at the Mem.

We didn't have a particularly large Academy in 2017 we only paid SH on the Board and I can't imagine we employ that many staff at the Mem. According to the accounts, BRFC employed 227 people on average in the 2017 accounting period:
45 playing staff (this did include the U23 development squad, which was created in 2016/17 and is referenced in the notes to the accounts) 30 management and admin staff 9 commercial staff 31 Academy staff 53 bar and catering 59 matchday stewards

We've overlooked the SCMP wage cap rules which is set at 60% of turnover, so we paid more or less £3m in wages assuming we hit the cap as seem to be this season, where the wage budget must now be £3.5/£4m if turnover has increased to £6m+ as seems likely.
