Very rare I leave before the end, but I had to leave early yesterday as I was taking the family to the Pantomime last night. Thankfully, I managed to see the winning goal before legging it to the car. Would rather see 85 minutes than miss the game completely.

Iv left early many times. Don’t see the big deal really, you take a gamble on beating the traffic over the potential to see another goal. But what can I say I’m only a second rate gashead. This beating the traffic is nonsense, a myth in the minds of people who’ve never seen a final whistle. I live 15 miles from the ground and when I go to the game by car I’m always home by 5.55 for Saturday games. Yesterdays 94th minute winner, like Lee Browns’s 92nd minute winner is the best feeling you can possibly get from going football, I really don’t understand why people deliberately deprive themselves of it because of unfounded paranoia about traffic. Maybe the reason you are able to get home in good time is because the traffic is a liitle lighter due to some people leaving earlier. Everyone has their reasons for everything they do and everyone likes to spend their time differently. For example you like to spend your precious time digging out people who leave early, while others would rather just enjoy the fact we won in such an exciting manner. When i had my season ticket on the terraces i would usually vacate my spot when the extra time board went up, but i would only go as far as the corner by the gates so i could watch the conclusion of the game but still get a quick getaway to beat most of the traffic. But now im up in the East Stand i generally wait til the final whistle as i cant be bothered with getting everyone to move just for me - but i am lucky as i generally park up by 12 so have a decent parking spot so can still get away quickly. If i knew i would be stuck in traffic for an hour or so i would most likely leave a few mins early and if i missed a late winner my first and only thought would be ‘awesome, we won’ and i wouldnt really be concerned that i had missed it. Maybe that makes me a plastic or 2nd rate fan, or maybe it just means that my support for Rovers is just one of the many things i enjoy and embrace, rather than being the only thing that matters to me - which is what i perceive to be the issue with many of the people who rant about being better fans. Speaking of which, thats my rant done - for now.

Speaking of which, thats my rant done - for now. No one gets stuck in traffic for an hour after any game. It’s a myth. It’s a phobia that many seem to have though. You hit on a good reason that it’s irritating to others though. Not on the terraces but in the seats, especially those that stand in the gangways half going and half staying. More vital goals are scored in the 90th + minutes than any other minute and they are often game changing or even in Lee Brown’s case season changing and I’m sure there are some people who have never experienced the pure joy that such goals bring. The bit I don’t understand is not those people who have to rush off to be somewhere else but those who suffer this hysterical nonsensical traffic phobia. Their loss though I guess.

I stay until the final whistle, and I wouldn't describe the traffic down Muller Road as mythical, luckily I've now sussed out a back route!
Each to their own, if people want to leave a little early, for whatever reason, they're entitled to make their choice.

Leaving the ground these dark evenings is quite a challenge for those 70+ if you wait for the final whistle. From the West Enclosure/ Stand and South Stand you are pushed and Jostled, the exits onto Filton Ave are poorly lit with lots of kerbs. I choose to make my way out when there is 3 mins of added time left. I managed to see the goal by loitering by the gap between the West enclosure and the tent.

you stay and watch that’s your parogative, live and let live I say. Although I 100% disagree about the traffic. With respect. How do you know about the traffic if you don’t stay to the end? In any case how is fear of sitting in a traffic jam for 15 minutes so big that people leave before the end on days like yesterday? I do wonder what they do with this extra 15 minutes of their life that is so much better than seeing the end of a game involving their favourite football team and seeing them score a late winner! ummm maybe it’s because I have stayed to the end before and noticed the difference. I would gladly take an extra 15 of my over watching 8 minutes of the gas at 3 nil down.

Why do you do it? Do you not understand/feel football at all? By the way the final score was 2-1 With all the issues surrounding the club right now, is this really worth macaroning your pants over?I’m happy for the people turning out in the current situation, let alone how long they stay for!!!

Addmitedly I am already dispointed with my typo on the word liitle/little.

Strange isn't it? That was probably the highlight of the season so far! I went mental when we scored the winner, haven't celebrated a goal like that for a long time. It was the best feeling ever, if I was one of these who left early I would be feeling sick as anything right now. I think that’s my point, maybe the majority of people (exc some of the valid reasons above) who left early actually didn’t feel like you and I would have done - Maybe they got home and just thought: “oh, look at that, they scored”... If they actually looked at all! Who the hell do you think you are?

Each to their own as far as I’m concerned, I have left before the end on occasions if I feel the match is dead, that is my choice and it Certainly doesn’t make be any better or any worse than any other fan, UTG

Yeah if you have to be somewhere really that important like your daughters Christmas play or something fair enough but loads of people are obsessed with beating traffic for the sake of it. If it’s just to get home then what does 15 minutes or so matter. It’s a long life ( hopefully ) and last minute winners are one of the greatest things in life.

The traffic excuse is a particularly lame one to be fair.
If all people are thinking about in the second half is what time they are going to leave, why bother in the first place? Stay at home, then you’ll be home much earlier.
You wouldn’t go to the cinema and leave ten minutes before the end would you?

If you weren't enjoying the entertainment why wouldn't you leave early...although at the cinema you might wait rather than upset those who were enjoying it, because getting out is more disruptive than leaving a football match.
