Why do you do it? Do you not understand/feel football at all?
By the way the final score was 2-1

I've left early many times. Its when we've been absolutely tonked mind, and I'd rather be first in the que at the bar.
I've never understood people leaving early when you're only a goal behind, drawing or winning though.
No better feeling than celebrating a 94th minute winner, well maybe a 95th, 96th minute winner, but you get the gist.

Why do you do it? Do you not understand/feel football at all? By the way the final score was 2-1 Don't. I couldn't be at the whole match as I had an unavoidable appointment so I thought I'd watch as much of the first half as I could. I left when we were 1 nil down... 😭

I would finish at 9pm and come in through the field gates that had been opened to let the early leavers out. I used to catch the last 15 minutes and saw many a late goal.

Why do you do it? Do you not understand/feel football at all? By the way the final score was 2-1 Strange isn't it? That was probably the highlight of the season so far! I went mental when we scored the winner, haven't celebrated a goal like that for a long time. It was the best feeling ever, if I was one of these who left early I would be feeling sick as anything right now.

If I don't leave a few minutes early, I don't make the 17.23 train from Filton home. The next one is at 6.10, so get home really late. I stayed to clap the players off yesterday, but wouldn't do that if we had no chance of getting anything from a game.

I think that’s my point, maybe the majority of people (exc some of the valid reasons above) who left early actually didn’t feel like you and I would have done - Maybe they got home and just thought: “oh, look at that, they scored”... If they actually looked at all!

Sorry about that, you had a perfectly valid reason to go early so I wasn't trying to make you feel bad. But I can't understand anyone who left 5 mins before the end so they could get to their car early etc.

Yeah, proper fans don't leave early!!
Proper fans stay till the end and clap the team off, and stay and watch the warm down, and stay and watch the players drive off!! That's proper fans...

Iv left early many times. Don’t see the big deal really, you take a gamble on beating the traffic over the potential to see another goal. But what can I say I’m only a second rate gashead.

This beating the traffic is nonsense, a myth in the minds of people who’ve never seen a final whistle. I live 15 miles from the ground and when I go to the game by car I’m always home by 5.55 for Saturday games. Yesterdays 94th minute winner, like Lee Browns’s 92nd minute winner is the best feeling you can possibly get from going football, I really don’t understand why people deliberately deprive themselves of it because of unfounded paranoia about traffic.

Although I 100% disagree about the traffic.

In any case how is fear of sitting in a traffic jam for 15 minutes so big that people leave before the end on days like yesterday? I do wonder what they do with this extra 15 minutes of their life that is so much better than seeing the end of a game involving their favourite football team and seeing them score a late winner!

Everyone has a freedom of choice, if they wish to stay or leave early then that's their choice. In my 39 years of watching Rovers I have left a few games early' not many but a few..... Especially if I had to get home to look after my kids so my then wife could work as she was a Nurse. That Gasheads is a real reason and a reality for many aswell.

Brilliant post!!!!
I got a lot of stick on here because I left early on Lee browns last game for us and didn't clap him off.
It didn't matter to the proper fans I had to get home and look after our little one so my GF could get to work.
But the proper fans stayed right till the end, and that's all that matters.......

Whenever we have a thread like this, there are many people who come on with excellent reasons why they need to leave before the end. However does anyone actually think that MOST people who leave before the end have any other reason than they want to beat the mythical traffic?

Does it matter? They paid their money, they can choose to stay as long, or as short as they like.
Why does it matter to the the proper fans why they leave?
IMO, people who pay their money, can leave when ever they want, with out having to be spoken about condescending
