Exactly what loads said about Michael Smith but in that case barely league two standard at best. Had a good few years in the Championship and now a regular for Hearts and Northern Ireland. Far better than any right backs we have had since he left us. He didn't play in the Championship and was bombed out when they were mid table League One... My mistake, he left us a side destined for non league for a side in league one and had a successful career there and was not " bombed out". I stand by what I said, can you name a better rightback for us since he left?

Lets be honest the Scottish Premiership or should I say the home for many players who can't make it to a decent level down here. Michael Smith was for a long time with us no better than Leadbitter or in fact Michael Kelly now. He left us at our time of need and was not pushed out but left us a much better player than the one who arrived.

He joined us as a semi- professional from Northern Ireland and left us having won a player of the year award here and then being named in the PFA Team of the Year in his final season with us.

I'm not disputing he was decent for us. I rated him a lot and was surprised he didn't really push on.

Out of interest Peterborough put all players in their last year of their contract on the transfer list. It is their stated club policy. Michael Smith was out of contract having been on the list for the whole season prior to his departure. Luke James was one of several put on the transfer list at the same time with one year left on his contract.

Yeah, my feeling is Posh are more interested in keeping a high player churn and making money on every player they can rather than, say, concentrate on promotion. So, istm that even if a player does well, and Smith did well for them by common consensus, they like to make sure they get some money. It wouldn't surprise me if they are 'constructive' in getting players out the door for a fee.

Not according to their retained list in 2017, where my information about their policy etc was taken from. He obviously did well out of the transfer if he had his contract paid up as well. Interesting that he is not one of the in contract players listed on the retained list or is that list issued on their website wrong?

Stay in the north and battle for a play off spot or move 100's south and battle against relegation, that must be a difficult choice for a young player (not!).

Devante Cole recalled by Wigan Athletic from Burton Albion loan spell. If he could recapture the form he had for Fleetwood before his Wigan move I reckon he could be a good signing and partner for Jakubiak.

No doubting Leadbitter would beat Smudger in a sprint without the ball, but anything else Smith wins hands down. Interesting that Smudge played 43 games in his final season with Posh some of them as Captain and only left after discussions with their new manager Grant Mcann who wanted to play a different way and did not want Smudge in his plans. After his initial three year contract after signing from us he had only signed another three year deal the summer before. Smudge agreed to look for another club and was praised highly by Peterborough for his actions and was sold to Hearts for a nominal fee. If he came back now he would still be the best fullback we would have in my opinion.

Hes a good little left back, wouldn't have minded seeing him here.

Fair enough as to how he was when he left us but there is no way that when he first joined us he was better than Leadbitter at his best. in fact Michael Smith was always picked out by other teams as the weak link in the side . If he came back now I agree he would probably be the best full back on the right side.

But very quickly he became a very good consistent player in our side, something that Leadbitter has never done. In fact over this season and last in my opinion he has become even less so and his crossing of the ball is worse than it has ever been. Smudge like Lee Brown very quickly became a first name on the team sheet player, something which Leadbitter has never achieved and probably never will in my opinion.

Already played for 2 clubs this season. Can't move until summer.
