It seems sensible to set targets again. We are 11pts from 8th place. Our present performance suggests we might be able to at least achieve this as an end position for our season. It would be stretching but might well be achievable. If we keep up the run we might even dream again about play offs. After all the negativity it great having a manager that builds confidence, belief and hope. It’s never too late to be ground breaking.

That's a very optimistic target. I'd settle for 5th from bottom but even that could be difficult if GC's defensive selection versus Burton is a sign of things to come. We need to set out more positively at home and picking up 3 points more often.

Funny how you always pop up with this stuff when we start winning Why not. No point throwing cold water on enthusiasm and positivity. Forward thinking and energy is what we now have. I’m with the dressing room who will silently be taking each gsmevas it comes but will know anything is possible. Exciting times for those willing to aim high. Enjoy the journey. I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be another ride to remember.

I agree we need to start picking up 3pts more regularly than we have this season. Great start in last few games. Here’s hoping.

Hopefully you are right about setting out positively now the xmas period is over and players like THD and OC coming back fresh.

Staying up would be fantastic.
When you see scunthorpe signing four players and transfer activity from other relegation rivals you wonder if our clubs incredibly sluggish recruitment methods will be enough to keep us up.
Add to that the stated need to move players off the wage bill before we can recruit, you have to wonder if we can sign anyone who can make a difference at all in january.
On a positive note the club payed for a nandos meal recently which was a nice gesture.

As long as you bring up these threads I will always remind you of that.

Did you just paste and copy that line from when DC took over from JW?
Finishing out of the bottom 4 as got to be the one and only aim at present.

A point at Accrington next week would be groundbreaking! Should be an interesting afternoon as All The bottom 8 are away from home.

I hope you are right but Martin for THD and Sinclair for O Clarke for a winnable home game worried me and it was no surprise we failed to score or even create chances. IMO we should have went for it a bit more and played Sercs or Lines alongside Upson and either Matthews or Bennett on the wing if they were fit? THD on the wing is understandable as he's an attacking fullback and technically gifted but asking Martin (very much a stay at home fullback in a flat back four type) to do the same job was questionable at best. If GC has indeed been given the job I hope that added security will make him feel free to be more attacking - I'd hate to be stuck in a dogfight and go down without a fight like the side John Ward built.

GC will have to make room in the squad for newcomers so somebody will have to leave, perhaps he's trying to force Bennett & Matthew out by not playing them, as apart from Leads you can't really see who else is going to attract any interest who we can afford to lose? Plus GC stuck with a left footer on the left wing.

Plus GC stuck with a left footer on the left wing. Might well be the case with Bennett who for me does a lot of nice pretty things but very rarely delivers in the final third. GC may have formed the same view as Kenny Jackett? I would prefer to keep Matthews as he's young and seems pretty technically gifted and confident in possession - just needs to develop a bit more and could become a decent player. I know he likes to play central or off the left cutting in but if I were in his shoes I'd be begging GC to give me a chance to play on the left if he wants a left footed winger.

To be fair all the sides that were in trouble in the last two seasons went mad in the window bought a load of players and got relegated. 2 or three out and 2 or three in will do us if they’re the right signings. We’ve got a good squad but the balance isn’t there because DC screwed that up this summer one way or another , we just need more width and a target man. I’d be happy to see Coughlan signed and Bennet and Mathews leave to be replaced but a couple of proper wingers with pace who can cross and Nichols leave to be replaced by a decent target man. If we do that then we’ll finish mid table I reckon.
