That's £500k for a Lincoln v Shrews final. I would increase that by 30% with Bigger clubs like Pompey Sunderland Rovers final. I think its a cup worth very little unless you get to Wembley but it's a little goldmine if you do..

I believe the winner gets £100k ( £50k for winning the final & £50k for winning their semi) & the runner up gets £50k for winning their semi-final tie, if that makes sense. It does make you wonder why GC suggests the trophy is just for the players & fans as £500K upfront, rather than in annual instalments, seems an hell of sum for a club like ours. Looking at PV's league form we really should now be just a semi final tie away from picking up that prize money. Barnet......?

Know what you mean re counting your chickens but think we are a different team since GC took over with a different mentality

Hence why I said "we really should now be" not "are now just" if any team could lose the tie it would have been Rovers under DC, lets see if GC can do better.

For our home games with about 1K fans, would we actually be losing money, though? Especially if the entry prices are reduced. Would be interesting to know how much it costs for us to put on a game.

The club needs as much money from every opportunity as we can get fullstop. This is an opportunity for the club to gain money they have lost though probably not budgeted for through going out of the FA and Caraboa cups in the early rounds. They know we really should have had that game v Sheffield united even though DCs record is appalling in the FA cup. I for one will support the club v Notts County and cant wait for the game, as I can’t for the Wycombe game - I’m enjoying my Rovers again. Thank you GC.

Would be a good test for GC to show he wants to win every game, no matter the status of the competition, unlike DC who's record in ALL the cups was embarrassingly bad.

Blimey, when the owners took over a few years ago who would have predicted we would be desperate for revenue from this competition. Times are certainly hard.

Regardless of the potential for B teams to join the league structure, what about the disgraceful treatment of the league clubs in this competition by forcing team lineups? Are people not forgetting that while this competition is a hindrance for most, and generally always has been (until the final), teams' resources are stretched enough without them being forced into playing 5 first teamers. All while the "U21's" are allowed to field several players over the age of 21 and seemingly as many non-British players as they wish, despite the reasoning behind the competition being to develop British talent... Batshuayi, Ulloa anyone? www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/12/07/checkatrade-trophy-sinks-new-low-33m-striker-fringe-players/Fining clubs for not adhering to the rules... www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38002599Remember when we subbed a keeper after a minute to get round the ridiculous rules? Still got fined... www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2016/november/darrell---im-disappointed-with-checkatrade-trophy-fine/The danger of this leading to B teams is a massive issue which i'm not even going to start on. But the way in which Harvey feels he can just enforce whatever laws he wants on league teams is a joke and reason enough to boycott this stupid competition in my opinion.

OK, AF. I'll play....why is it ridiculous ?
lympo says: we should take money from any source. falso says: no we shouldn't; not from Checka 18/19. spies says; so you think we've got tainted money. Are you happy to keep it? AF says:.....?

OK, AF. I'll play....why is it ridiculous ? I think you would need to demonstrate why we should send money we have earned back, if you're gonna make that sort of comment, rather than me bothering to explain why it's a ridiculous idea. It seems pretty self-evidently ridiculous to me.

Lympstone is saying we should go so the club gets more gate income and a better chance to win i assume, others feel it's more important to not go until U21 teams are not in the competition. That's how i read it.
