Before I start, I should say that I backed GC’s appointment initially, hoping for a sensible short term deal until the end of the season.
A few things have concerned me since. GC’s acceptance and actual praise of the club’s current facilities indicates to me that GC is ‘just happy to be here’. That’s a real worry. I bet the owners couldn’t believe their luck, appointing a bloke that the supporters were seemingly happy with, on a (hopefully) cheap contract, who has publicly stated that he is happy with our setup.
Do GC’s ambitions match the fans’? Part of me wonders if he is just happy to get a managerial role at a football league club.

If we don’t sign, at least 3 players, 2 strikers, were f**ked. Going down, end of. If none are signed, I will not be buying 3 season tickets next year.

We appointed GC because it cost us no money as with his assistant. Its farcical really to expect them to get more out of a squad then our most successful manager in the clubs history. I think fans got a bit carried away after a handful of good results more out of hope then anything. We have an uber loyal fanbase that we are all proud of but sometimes to our detriment. .

It dosnt matter a stuff who the manager is if the players are not good enough. You cant really judge coughlan until he can get his type of players into the club and until we have at least one decent striker at the club.

Does someone who has never been a manager have a type of player ? Would he really have much of a clue recruitment wise?

GC can't turn DC's crap signings around overnight, let's at least give him the January transfer window. FFS just how bad were Payne and Upson today!

He managed to get 3 wins out of them during which we got a good few goals and played at a good tempo. Now we are back to playing at a sluggish tempo and can't score. The question has to be asked: are the players really crap? Is the manager crap? Or by giving the manager 2.5 years have the board somehow changed the mindset of the players and they are back to not giving a sh**?

This sort of post irritates the hell out of me , DCs crap signings? How on earth do you know if these were his priority signings , if you truly believe he got his top targets in through the door then I am staggered.

AS GC said, he inherited the players and said in post match interview he thinks 4 additions needed including 2 strikers. I think most would agree with that assessment but can't see the Board funding that even if he could convince the right players to join the club. The squad is too fragile both mentally and physically and that hard to change. At the end of the day it was DC's recruitment that has got us in this situation.

Its childishly naive to think that there are no conditions written into coughlans contract imo. We have been poor in all the home games under coughlan . We do not have any good strikers at the club. Coughlans been talking up the players because thats the only sensible option when your budget if used up and your first team squad is bigger than bristol citys but desperately short of quality, especially going forward. Somehow hes got to get players out,get players in and stay in this division before releasing numerous players at the end of the season. Thats if it's down to him by then of course.

Partly true but if as a manager you still go ahead and sign players you dont want and are not good enough your going to lose your job. Same will apply in his next job.

Bang on the money Bluebutterfly.. But what we've got is a yes man and a board that don't care. Based on that their can only be one outcome I'm afraid....

Agree , but we have been consistently losing our best players for the past few years and the replacements haven’t been better than the players we’ve let go as the transfer fees weren’t fully put pack into the playing squad so it is inevitable that the rot was bound to set in eventually.
