The owners provided the football professionals with a mid table budget. The owners were let down by the football professionals. The squad is bigger than bristol city's,its too big even allowing for changes in the loan system. Lmaooo comparing our squad and their squad is totally idiotic and pointless.

Thing is im not comparing our squad with theirs. Bristol city are dividing their playing budget between 18 or 19 players. Bristol rovers are dividing their playing budget between 24-26 players. See what im driving at?

I'd say that they are trying to live within their means - i.e. running the club without adding to the debt and trying hard to make a profit.
We will find a level that suits our income/ expenditure/ profitability - League 2 will be about it unfortunately - give or take the odd successful year.
Until all football clubs are run properly (never going to happen) then we are stuffed!
Keep dreaming if you think we can challenge the top 6 in L1 or reach the dizzy heights of the Championship! It won't happen!
We'll do well to win the Checkatrade Trophy!
This is how exactly what I’m saying that their not bothered about league 1 as they know financially we’re a league 2 club Well we will have to keep an eye on Accrington then because they seem to be making a mockery of the idea that finances dictate yiur position in the pyramid. It has to be repeated again though for emphasis: if money dictates your average league position then how come, for a team that was at one point this season 6th in the average league one home league attendance table, people seem to be of the idea that league 2 is our natural level. Where is the money going? Or is our budget actually very competitive and, unlike Accrington, we just water it up the wall on crap, unmotivated players?

So think about it....they cash in on the best players we had which is fair enough but their business savy was all wrong because we only had a decent price for Harrison(which I’m not saying they done on purpose) but don’t spend the money on any new players instead they spend the money which we were given for being in the league...1.6million has been banked and they bring in 3m at least a year from gate receipts... And we can only get players like Craig/Bennett on a free? They bring in GC as yes he’s done well but it’s pretty obvious any manager coming in with a reputation or any chance of taking the team higher would want promises of transfer fund or money spent on the team..but they know GC would take his chance and not promise this. Their not pushing to keep players with higher wages and the quality has been stripped from the team without any real investment (this is why DC has lost the plot with them) They’ve been quiet for 2 seasons now and no input and false promises have stopped so don’t you think it’s pretty obvious this isn’t a board that are too bothered with the consequences? Its a fair point that we didnt get decent money for 4 very good players[ taylor, bodin, harrison, brown] but its difficult to be sure the owners were to blame and the unexpected 2nd promotion must be considered. Dont agree with the other stuff because whoever is manager has to work within a budget at a club like rovers.

We took three weeks to get a replacement for Harrison in, and we only got Payne in on deadline day because the Bakayoko deal fell through and he went to Coventry.
A lot of money wasted on players not up to this level over the last few seasons: - The fees for Nichols, Payne, Mensah, and Burn may as well have been flushed down the toilet. - Paying up contracts like Bennett's, who largely has looked poor. - Spending a significant fee on a LB who was injured until a month ago.
Sounds like there is a lot of conflict/bad eggs in camp too, if GC's last interview is anything to go by.
I just can't believe DC, who so resolutely built sides based around characters/personalities and pure footballing potential, built such a wet, soulless squad on frankly a decent budget.
It's almost like when we reached L1, he prioritised ability over personality, and it backfired.

I love the way people say "where's the money gone!. Wages, Insurance, NI, Tax, Stewards, Groundsman, coaches, food outlets, Safety certificates, licences, cleaners, caterers, turn style operators, business rates, business tax, medical services, agents, footballs, shirts, socks, shorts, training kit, laundry services, and on and on and on. Notice I didn't mention players? fees? Signing on fees?

I think DC reached his level as regards real personal knowledge of players in the standard we were in ie Conference and League 2. Really out of his depth when the players who were playing so well reached their level.

He played over 275 times at a L1 level or above and has an extensive network of contacts, he said that himself, there seems to be a myth that DC was out of his depth at this level when he took us to our best finish in this division in 20 years. We just hit a ceiling as a club, we won't achieve higher the 10th in L1 without serious investment.

Things have started to go downhill ever since the snake slithered away. You could see a lot of players confidence reduce after he left, as if they gave up, then the same happened with Bodin.

Axegas, He managed for 3 years before he managed us and knew Conference players very well. You have failed to convince me he knew higher level players.

Axegas, He managed for 3 years before he managed us and knew Conference players very well. You have failed to convince me he knew higher level players. That comes with experience and scouting surely? Who is to say he targeted players who either wouldn’t join or the club wouldn’t pay out for? That could well be a reason for DCs last minute shopping? He did say plenty of times that he put in a list of players to the board which didn’t get off the ground. Another reason which leads me to believe he didn’t sign or negotiate deals for some of the ‘ footballers’now wearing Rovers shirts.

I believe DC had plenty of experience and contacts but was made promises that things would change and they didn’t. Another thing that I don’t remember being mentioned yet is that he got married - I think that is bound to lessen the focus.
