Talk sport crowing about a potential Sunderland v pompey final # conspiracy theory 😁 Yeah, it's a bit like deciding the best 3rd round FA Cup clash is the all-Prem fixture.

Think they are thinking of the attendance as well not knowing how the Gas army grows at big game times, we have a lot of fans less paying supporters.

Will the club have a representative at the draw to observe fair play.

It is a little bit more flexible this season, but we still can't send out our youngsters like we used to be able to in the JPT days Meanwhile players like Charlie Adam can play for the prem teams under 23s. How is that nurturing youth talent and helping the England squad? You can play 6 now. The fines only £1000 anyway isn't it?? The extra money just for taking part, will more than cover that anyway. That's why some teams do just make 11 changes. Can't really play the whole youth team now anyway, as teams have bigger squad now. So need to keep the squad happy as well. Playing with Charlie Adams will obviously help the youth player's. That's why they can play a few. It's obvious they will learn playing with more experienced player's and against them. In that case loan them out or leave them at the clubs they are developing in. The main reason these teams are included is because they aren't getting the experience in their academy teams. Hopefully the limits on how many youth players you can have will go some way to making sure the PL teams don't hoover up all the talented players from the lower leagues at a young age.

I agree they have way too many. But they will still want youth teams, like we have our own. So the one's staying will need games. The top club's do put a lot of money into there youth set ups.

We lost out in the Anglo-Italian Cup once on the toss of a coin over the phone! West Ham going through to play away from home!!!
Given that the draw is live on the radio, it'll be fixed!

Will the club have a representative at the draw to observe fair play. What's the betting the EFL will say the studio is too small to have club reps? It seems a bit odd to me not having it broadcast live on Sky like the last draw, particularly when I assume one, or both, ties will be shown live on Sky?

Last time we played the sh1t in this cup the draw was a bit dubious with Soccer AM merely turning over big playing cards!

I disagree and believe they are using this tournament to get people used to the idea before they try again. It's never going to get people used to the idea is it. Them joining the league will never be a good thing. Can't see how this will change there opinion. People are already getting used it to sadly. The fixtures are slowly becoming normalised.

Them joining the league will never be a good thing. Can't see how this will change there opinion. It already is. Last year there was outrage at B teams being included in this tournament. They bribed owners with a bigger prize pot and this year the outrage has been less vocal and attendances marginally higher. Each year different teams get to the final and we see crowd sizes surge. The acceptance of B teams in this tournament is happening as we sleep walk towards it. The EFL will then bribe the owners again, pointing to the success and acceptance of this tournament and owners will agree. It will be a desperate and futile attempt to brigde the financial gap between them and the PL clubs. The outcry will be huge but it will be too late. The time to reject this is now. Sadly football fans are doing what football fans do...turn up and support their team regardless of what the fa, PL/EFL bosses and owners do. All the while wondering how football lost its way and became more about money than anything else. Our loyalty to our clubs is both it's best asset and also our weakness.

All very laudable, however this competition is just a symptom of the problem that football faces, its not the problem itself. The inequity of finance in football was initiated by the formation of the Premier league and the consequential ability to funnel fortunes into the pockets of Premier league sides. The demise of small clubs mirrors the demise of our high streets. We all think having a vibrant high street is a benefit yet we get our shopping in superstores and online. We all think it would be nice to have four divisions where local clubs could aspire to promotion to the highest level. That's over, probably never to return. Manchester City have a fantastic set up but why wouldn't they, they're owned by a wealthy country. Unless a club wins the owner lottery it just ain't happening anymore. Just looking at our finances, we will be broke long before B Teams are in the football league. My thought is to support the club wherever I can to ensure that we survive long enough, that one day we win the owner lottery. To think boycotting the FL Trophy whist doing nothing to address the root cause is going to change anything is fantasy. I would be really interested to hear from anyone who boycotts the competition while subscribing to Sky Sports.

That's nothing to do with the league, that's too do with this rubbish tournament. This is the third season they have been involved. People can understand the difference between the league and this tournament.

Huddersfield being a good example. They are going which is why I think we need to stop this and send a message to those in charge that the game is nothing without us. I've never subscribed to Sky as I think my money is better spent elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure from now on semi finals and final have TV coverage.
As an extremist, I'll boycott both!

People can understand the difference between the league and this tournament. If you really don’t believe the end goal is B teams in the football league I suggest you look a little harder. The below is a tweet from a Man City youth coach. In which he advocates B team inclusion in the football league and goes on to say it will ‘cause disruption’ but clearly doesn’t care. Supporting this tournament is normalising B teams in the football league structure. Enjoy Wembley if we get there but this simply isn’t for me. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted
