Mo Baghdadi has left the club and Luke Russe has gone to Gloucester City for a month on loan.
Baghdadi seem to stall in his development and as he couldn't get a game for Bath City am not surprised he has gone.
Would have like to have Russe loaned to a better club than Gloucester, if these lads cant get games for conference or league 2 sides don't see them being good enough for us.

Well the 'way too big' squad is certainly being trimmed....may only be development squad but its another resource gone. Sadly none of the heavy wage hitters have made way so far.

I agree about Russe. Might be just that they want him local to keep an eye on him and keep him involved with training. Would be disappointed if he just disappeared at the end of the season so hopefully he’ll make his mark for Gloucester.

Honestly thought Baghdadi was gonna be our next big player.

Honestly thought Baghdadi was gonna be our next big player. Was really impressive when loaned to Dorchester, shame they couldn't have loaned him there for another season....

Funny with Russe. At MK Dons last year he was our best player and looked really comfortable at that level. Then he couldn't get any game time and now he's gone to non-league. Seems a shame as I thought he was going to storm his way into the team.

I'd say perhaps a relegation battle is not the time for someone like Russe to be breaking into the first team, but from what I remember reading earlier he's going straight into one at NL South level. Bit different though to being in a relegation battle in front of 8k supporters each week I suppose.
I'd keep hold of him for a few more seasons yet. Needs to be properly nurtured though.

I really don't get how this helps us or Russe either through the experience or saving us much money. What about sending out a keeper?

Honestly thought Baghdadi was gonna be our next big player. I had high hopes for him too. He had great reports from his time at Dorchester and scored a few.

Mo wanted game time, he was offered it back in Germany. Needs to be playing week in week out, not once or twice a month. He has done the right thing, the 1st team squad is way too large to give the 23s much hope.

I think there has been a clear lack of thinking and planning on this and waste of money. DC and the HofR strategy seemed comletely at odds with a Dev Squad imho. The Board and Manager and all the non playing staff and suits all need to buy in to it and quickly.

suspect after getting a few minutes in first team last season and impressing Mo has got frustrated, and decided the powers that be dont think he is going to make it , result head goes down and spirals into obscurity, shame as thought he showed great potential, hope same does not happen to Russe who did little wrong in the game time he has had, i fear we are not giving these players a chance and i begin to question the relevance of the development squad.

Last year the development squad did brilliantly. We had Menayese, Russe, Andre make league debuts and several others play in the cup. This year Hargreaves has been promoted to assistant manager and not replaced in his job, no development players have featured in the league and the players who did last year have seemingly not progressed in a tangible way.
If you want to judge whether the Al Qadis are in it for the long haul then, I would suggest that a good barometer is whether we still have a development squad next season. I really hope so.

Now that Chris H is involved with the first team I hope he will be pushing for some of the Development squad to be involved. I would have thought that a replacement for CH as manager of the squad could be an internal appointment esp as there are not weekly matches. That would make sense imo. Perhaps GC will give our own youngsters more of a chance, if he does I hope it won’t be construed as a cost cutting measure. UTG!

If we cut costs and develop our youth prospects into the first team squad then that has a logic to it.
