Portsmouth in the league, we lost but worth it for visiting such a historic ground. Followed Rovers around the country ever since.

I think it was Feb 1971 away to Halifax. Cannot remember a lot about it,went on supporters coach and it was 0-0. Do remember the fog and the cold on the Pennines and thinking what a dump Halifax was! What made me pick that for my 1st away trip I'll never know!!

deeply ashamed to say this but that mob south of the river was my first away game..... I'm very proud to say the first ever professional game I saw was at Ashton Gate. I'm even prouder to say that the away team won a very high profile game on that day. I'm even more proud to say that I have supported that away team ever since. BRISTOL ROVERS the oldest team in Bristol 1883 not that 1984 mob I've also seen Rovers play at over 120 away grounds in 4 countries. UTG

Derby, Pride Park, January 5th 2002, The Duke. Need I say anymore?
What a game that was!! We were the first 4th division club to win away at a Premiership team in the F.A Cup!!!
I still get goose-pimples watching the game!!!

Went to see Bath City once in early 80s to see them play a 5th division match.
First Gas away match was Newport County at Somerton Park in Spring of 1985. We drew 1-1.
I remember lovely weather, loads and loads of Gas, plenty of singing, and a certain Mr Kevin Jenkins (RIP) enjoying the day his own way. Bless him.
My next away match was Swansea City at the Vetch. Bradford fire day.
Two baptism of away matches courtesy of the Welsh!

Ashton Gate, FA Cup match 0-0 Jan 1968. Lost the replay 1-2. UTG! That was mine too, a school friend (a ted) gave me a free ticket, but I had to stand on that long open terrace which became the dolman stand Yes, me too. I went with my older brother who was a City supporter. UTG!

Telford FACup match 1969. We won 3-0. I was at that game as an 8 year old. My dad took me as we were living there (I still do).

Ashton gate.. then Milwall. Snap! Same here. Can't remember the Ashton gate match but Millwall was a tedious 0-0 draw.

Aldershot December 1969 the match itself was best forgotten we lost 3-1, but I remember there were mounted military police outside the ground. Back to the title post, did anyone read the part that said apart from Ashton Gate?.

Went to Ashton Gate in the early 1970s for a Gloucester Cup match - can't remember the result but can remember standing on the terraces next to the East End. Wasn't impressed and didn't return there for a match until our JPT match a few years back.
Yep did read the OP but not until I posted the above. Can't remember the first "proper" away match, might have been Plymouth........

Portsmouth on Boxing Day early 90's. We were a goal down after about 30 seconds and lost 4-1. My away days have occasionally, but not always, got better!

Bournemouth in the 1994/95 season. It was an evening game and we lost either 1 or 2 nil. I threw up all over my auntie’s carpet later in the evening. Good days.

Technically it was our home ground too but we were away in a friendly against our hosts, so Twerton Park! Lol! Next was Swindon, Yeovil, Cheltenham before branching out further.
