Think our new South Stand needs replacing after nearly twenty years.FGR are having a new stadium and one of their old ones would make an ideal temporary replacement.

GD Dunford told me that it was possible to develop the Mem but they didn't want to as there would be too many restrictions on it

On a more positive note, the way things are going every other club will have a new ground before us. If we then get one though it will be the newest in the country!

Surely if this was granted planning permission and light wasn't an issue then, it wouldn't be an issue now!! Attachment Deleted

You would think so, but regulations change all of the time....

I seem to recall Mike Turl, who seems to be behind Solihull Moors rise up the leagues, plans included the Mem being a self financing community stadium. All we seem to have at Rovers is "can't do" owners, it really does my head in given the potential of the club. Why can't somebody check a chance that investing in a new stadium will eventually pay off.

By new stands do you mean only in regards a new East Stand? My understanding was that City couldn't make the Atyeo any higher because of neighbouring properties, despite the other stands being higher? yes I was referring to the east side of the ground, although we did get permission for a tall stand on the northside on one of the clubs previous planning permissions . Certainly would only be able to have a low stand on the south side, as space is limited. Not sure if the club still have ownwership of the properties in Trubshaw Gardens which would be blighted by the East Stand but in 2006 Colin Williams’s family bought them so that the permission that was granted to rebuild the ground could be obtained. His family sold them to other director(s) at the club after he left the board so unless they have disposed of those houses outside of the club, building a new East Stand shouldn’t be an issue. As for the South Stand, the club owned the two houses behind the South Stand on Alton Road as well as a large area of scrub land. This was all taken into account when full planning permission was granted to redevelop the stadium 10 years ago.

In all honesty an insurance job on the stadium would be brilliant, need someone to leave the fryers on or something

Wasn't there some controversy on here when the annual results showed one director (EW?) was paid a premium for buying the houses on the club's behalf? Pretty sure they were disposed of when we, stupidly in my view, let the pp on the Mem lapse.

I thought those were properties on Filton Ave relating to the Sainsbury’s application and not the previous Regeneration plans 5 years earlier.

To paraphrase & amend a famous line; the only thing needed for failure to win is for good people and good ideas to be sidelined.

There'd have been a bigger plot to play with if past owners hadn't built houses on it. Sadly that deal was done before we even played at The Mem. We were committed to complete the deal after we acquired ownership. Genuine question. When was that done then? Trubshaw close looks quite new. I remember many years ago when Bristol rugby had an entire trg pitch out the back, sideways on, and assumed that the land had been redeveloped relatively recently.
