Been confirmed that he is in the Wales squad, so he will miss the Plymouth game. Kilgour could get his chance, unless others return from injury.

Nothing we can do but it is really poor that a key player can be forced to miss a key game at a key part of the season. I wonder if the Premier League B team games will be postponed on international weekends when they're allowed into the EFL ….?

As I posted elsewhere, I hoped the club could have a sensible discussion with the Welsh set up and agree to let him play for us, instead of sit on the bench (as he is most likely to do) for them for this key game against a relegation rival.

I wonder if the Premier League B team games will be postponed on international weekends when they're allowed into the EFL ….? Absolute farce in my opinion. I get they have a qualifier but will he really play? Does he need to be there for the T&T friendly when the club he captains is in a fight for survival? Not his fault, can't turn your country and you shouldn't at our level anyway but I feel like we as a club should be able to do something to say "hey, fancy allowing us to keep our key player for a massive Tuesday six-pointer against a fellow potential relegationee?" ... winds me up.

I wonder if the Premier League B team games will be postponed on international weekends when they're allowed into the EFL ….? I believe the club have to allow it, don't we? I'm could have sworn in the past Wenger & Fergie said no to international teams before. Could be wrong though. I was actually going to post this a while ago, knowing these games are coming up & saying, look - he's our captain in a relegation battle. Tom there are bigger priorities right now than sitting on the bench at home to Slovakia. GC should have said no here IMO. EDIT: Guess I'm wrong here: Qualifying matches for an international competition played on fixed/set dates
These matches take priority over matches in a national championship. In other words, matches in the national championship or cup competition should not be arranged on one of the fixed/set dates.
A club holding the registration of a player called up to play in the national team must release him to the national association on the fixed/set dates for international matches in each calendar year (see enclosure “Coordinated International Match Calendar 2002 – 2004”).
The player shall also be released for the period of preparation. If the player is called up to play in a qualifying match for an international competition, this period shall be 4 days (including the day of the match). The period of release shall be prolonged to 5 days if the match in question is held on a different continent to that on which the club is domiciled (Paragraph 5b).

It does give him experience of training with higher quality players, how often do you get the chance to test your defending up against Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey? Also puts makes him that little bit more valuable if we were to sell him, If Ryan Giggs thinks he's good enough, I'm sure there could be a few Championship clubs having a look at him, especially after his form this season. Just wish we had a couple more internationals like Charlton and Sunderland do so we could postpone the games, where is Jake Gosling when you need him?

Wales are playing at Wrexham ( sell out ) on the Wednesday v Trinidad and he will feature. So most of the 30 odd players will get a game over the two fixtures with so many subs able to be used.

Locks is one of three L1 players in the squad- there's 2 from Barnsley there. Good for him, probably bad for us.

Good luck Tom, well deserved. Yes, of course good luck and it's great for him personally, I just think that our current situation with so many defenders out injured and the perilous league position we are in should mean the ability to have him play for us in this vital game. As British players are forced down the leagues by the number of foreign stars in the Premier league and Championship this type of thing will impact League 1 and League 2 teams more and more. Perhaps International breaks should be for all of the EFL.

Oh I agree, to lose a starting 11 player to go on International duty when the outcome for our club with little resources could be immense is ridiculous.

It is what it is. The rules are there and we have to abide by them, you can't just have club sides refusing permission for their players to go on international duty. Every manager in the land could come up with an excuse to suit them and if we went down that route international football would be over.
We just have to deal with it and as the Gaschat Experts will tell you Lockyer is completely useless - Giggs clearly knows nothing about football. What has he ever achieved compared to us on here anyway!
I would favour Kilgour getting a chance. He should be full of confidence after his recent loan spell and we have to see what he's made of at some point.

Would prefer to play Kilgour in the middle, don't see JC as a centre back when playing a back 4. Although GC has said he's hoping to have Leadbitter back this week. So that could be an option.
